Super Hot Slots
One of the newer titles from Zeus Gaming, Super Hot is a traditionally-designed slot machine featuring 4 reels and 25 fixed paylines. The game uses an array of classic slot symbols from pieces of fruit to BAR logos and lucky sevens, but delivers the whole package in a style that looks modern and contemporary.
While you won’t find anything particularly revolutionary in Super Hot, the game is clean and simple enough for users to pick and play, while a regular jackpot of 160x your total bet for matching four lucky sevens is pretty generous to begin with. On top of that, further bonuses can be unlocked whenever you fill the entire gameboard with one symbol, with a whopping 200x your bet available.
Turning Up The Heat
Given that Super Hot features 25 fixed paylines, there’s not much that players need to do save for choosing their bet amount. Starting at one coin per line and going up to 10, players can wager between 25 and 250 coins per spin depending on the size of their bankroll and their confidence.
Minimum payouts start from 15 coins (less than the minimum 25-coin wager) for matching three X symbols, but once you get to the fruits icons you’ll at least break even on your spin. Beyond that players will receive 100 coins for three BARs, 150 for three stars and 400 for three lucky sevens.
Things hot up significantly when you start hitting four-of-a-kind, however, with the minimum prize for four X symbols being 50 coins and the maximum jackpot being 4,000. Unfortunately there are no wilds present in Super Hot, so you will have to rely solely on your own good fortune to net these bigger prizes rather than receiving a gift from the online slot gods to complete your winning lines.
Lukewarm Design
Although there’s nothing particularly new to be found on Super Hot’s 4 reels, what is there is simple, clean and nicely designed. As mentioned previously, fruit symbols including lemons, plums, oranges and cherries dominate the lower value payout spots, while the higher value symbols are comprised of several other famous slot symbols including the BAR logo, a silver star and the red lucky seven.
One nice graphical touch present in Super Hot is that whenever you match a winning payline, the background behind the winning symbols bursts into flames as the icon lights up, making it very clear which paylines have been triggered, even when multiple wins are present during the same spin.
Unfortunately – and this is becoming something of a recurring theme for Zeus Gaming slots – Super Hot does not feature any of its own unique sound effects, but instead relies on the audio bank the software developers use for their bricks and mortar titles. While this provides a nice selection of authentic slot machine noises, it doesn’t really help the game establish itself as anything unique.
Nothing But Embers
Without a shadow of a doubt, the most disappointing thing about Super Hot is its lack of bonus features. Not only are there no wilds present among the game’s eight regular icons, but there are no scatters symbols and no free spins let alone anything fancy like rotating reels – meaning what you see is pretty much exactly what you get.
Fortunately, the slot does include one unique way to boost your winnings, and that comes in the form of the grouped fruit symbols. As these icons are clumped together in bunches of four, it is technically possible to fill the entire gameboard with just one fruit, which results in a huge bonus.
Awarding 100 coins per line anyway, you would normally receive 2,500 coins for filling the board with one type of fruit symbol, but in Super Hot you get a little bit extra for your effort as all line wins are doubled. This results in 5,000 being won at the lowest starting stake – a whopping 200x your bet.
Fizzled Out
When a company like Zeus Gaming releases a new title, you expect something that breaks the mould and gives players something new to savour. Unfortunately, Super Hot doesn’t even entertain the notion of providing something different and instead falls into the tried and tested 4 reel format while also taking away the usual extras like wild symbols and free spin bonus. All in all, this makes for a fairly dull playing experience that is highly unlikely to prise you away from your current favourites like their Snake Eyes slot.
