Aztec Moon Slot
With so many slot machines having an exploration style theme, it’s good to see the pre-Hispanic empire that covered three centuries represented. It really is such an exotic and fascinating period.
But does this WorldMatch game do the tribal dynasty period justice? Let’s find out…
Walking on the Aztec Moon
What’s immediately noticeable is that you don’t need to know anything about the period to enjoy it. That also means you won’t learn anything from this, but it can always inspire you to find out more. The visuals aren’t as elegant or as stylish as others in the WorldMatch collection. The background has no temples or weapons, just jungle leaves.
The icons are also largely disappointing and don’t make enough of the concept. The Aces and Jacks are represented by the same coloured orange, yellow and red combination. The King letter is blue and the Queen one green. While the queen is fine, the other colours really don’t fit in. The picture symbols aren’t too much better. The male tribal warrior and female don’t have enough detail or expression and the snake looks too cramped.
When it goes grey during a gap in play it actually looks better. The green treasure image really does stand out though. It will feel like the shiny in a football sticker collection. If you do tire of the symbols, you can accelerate the speed to fast and also set it up so you can use shortcut keys.
Aztec Play
This is a 5-reel, 50-line game that is really easy to play in different bet lines and levels. You can choose to play in 1, 5, 10, 25 or 50 lines. Rather than go up or down, if you’re sure want to power onto total power, you can go straight to 50 lines on Max Bet. It’s just as simple to change the betting level. Starting off with 1 credit, you can go up to 2, 5,10, 20 or 50, though it’s worth noting that that these are set in euros.
The Autoplay section offers you more than you might hope. Rather than just start and stop, there are different settings reflecting your level of ambition or laid back betting style. If you decide to use the automatic option you can put it to 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 500 or 1,000. While it can be tempting to put the music on mute when playing for a length of time, here the sounds are melodic and low-key. It does lack the drama when you hit big though.
The value of each symbol is seen on the paytable page that can be found within the ‘i’ button and clicking on the trophy icon. The tribal leader has a maximum value of 1,000 credits if you get 5, which halves to 500 if you get 4. The female is next up with 500 for 5, with the star symbol next and then the snake and green treasure on equal value.
Extra Aztec Surprises
You can increase your chances of winning by the bonus system. The wildcard, a wooden figure of worship, can replace any symbol except for Bonus Game and Free Spin. If it combines to complete a line, it allows you to get the highest bet payout. If you get 3, 4 or 5 Free Spin symbols in any position, it activates 12 Free Spins, with 5 being worth 100 credits.
During these spins, all prizes are doubled. These spins are played on the same number of lines and bet as the triggering game. It is initially activated by clicking on Bonus Game. It’s worth noting that there’s only one Bonus Game per spin.
There’s also a hidden treasure element. And who doesn’t love that? You find it by choosing the ancient glyphs (relating to hieroglyphics) within 9 boxes where you can win different stages of Euro money. It ends when Collect comes across the screen.
Aztec Moon Sparkles
As we’ve got used to with most WorldMatch games, there’s plenty to like here. The HD graphics provide a pleasant backdrop, and it’s all very simple to navigate. There are also neat little touches like being able to easily show off your score on social media by using the share button and a helpful promotional video.
The icons aren’t perfect but overall, Aztec Moon sure knows how to shine.
