50's Pin-Up Slots
When you hear “50’s Pin-Up”, what – or rather who – do you picture? Brigitte Bardot? Marilyn Monroe? Cyd Charisse, Jayne Mansfield, Kim Novak? Perhaps the 1950s are so far in the past that your mind goes blank. One thing’s for sure, unless you’re a degenerate slots player, you’re unlikely to picture the 5-reel video slot from WorldMatch. But that’s what we are gathered here today to discuss. This artistic casino game was released in 2013 and, if we can be forgiven for saying, it’s rather easy on the eyes.
50’s Pin-Up is, as you might have deduced, a slot game based on…well, pretty girls and their pretty accoutrements. Eye-catching icons from the 50’s fairly crowd the reels, including an old-fashioned dial telephone and a radio. The slot features 25 paylines, a 2,000 credit jackpot, wild symbols, scatters and multipliers. Ready to learn more? Then read on.
Getting Started
Players of 50’s Pin-Up can bet between 0.01 to 1.00 per line, of which there are 25. However, the paylines are unfixed: you can play on 1, 5, 10, 15 or 25. Simply decide on your line-stake and payline figure before playing, then modify them using the buttons at the foot of the screen. You can also speed up the pace of the slot by engaging Fast Play, which executes Stop automatically. The game’s theoretical return-to-player percentage is a handsome 96.11%.
Love Hearts and Lipstick
As you play, you’ll be treated to gentle, 50s-inspired muzak, and symbols animate when involved in wins. The icons include a love heart, a telephone, a heart-shaped ring, a rose, a white radio, a lipstick imprint, a pink cowboy hat, pink shoes, a perfume atomiser and a pair of sunglasses. Each is well illustrated, and the 5x3 reel grid appears surrounded by pearls. A column of pearls also separates each of the reels. The title appears in pink at the top of the screen.
The old-fashioned telephone is the game’s scatter symbol, and it can appear anywhere on the reels. When one or more appears, you’ll be granted a multiple of your total bet for the spin. The multiplier is equal to the number of scatters you uncovered. So, for three scatters, you’ll win 3x total bet, and for five you’ll win 5x total bet.
The Blue Martini cocktail is the lone wild in the game. It can substitute for other symbols – except the free spins icon and the aforementioned scatter – to help you form wins.
Twelve free games are awarded whenever you see three or more free spins hearts anywhere on the screen. Not only that, but all pay-outs during the dozen free spins are doubled. Free spins are played on the same number of lines, and with the same bet-per-line, as was used in the triggering game. As well as granting free spins, the heart symbols generate pay-outs in their own right, granting 10 for three, 25 for four and 100 for five in a line.
The diamond ring is the highest-paying symbol of the lot, awarding 2,000x your line-bet for five on an active line in the base game. You can also win 1,000x for four or 100x for three. Elsewhere, the rose pays 1,000x for five, 250x for four and 30x for three. The white radio pays 250x for five, 150x for four and 20x for three, while the lipstick imprint pays 200x for five, 100x for four and 20x for three.
For a detailed breakdown of all pay values, simply consult the pay-table. You can do this by clicking on the ‘i’ symbol in the lower left-hand corner, which brings up a menu of five small icons. Click on the one which looks like a trophy to check out the pay-table. You can also click on the question mark to read a comprehensive list of the game’s rules.
Back to the 50s
50’s Pin-Up is a nice little slot game with an original theme. The graphics are simple but effective, the gameplay is strong and the bonus features are numerous. Given the wide betting range, and the fact that the gamer can choose their number of paylines, this is one which many players will enjoy – particularly if they can hit some free spins and scatter wins.
