Toys Of Joy Slots
Having long since established themselves a reputation for creating some of the most colourful and vibrant slots in the industry such as the Nuts Commander slot, Spinomenal have certainly cranked the cuteness factor up a notch with Toys Of Joy, a five-reel, 25-payline game based on a classic carnival claw game.
Like most titles in the software company’s catalogue, Toys Of Joy is a fairly simple game that foregoes the fancy trappings of multiple bonus rounds and complicated wild systems in favour of providing a playing experience that is both quick to learn and fun to get to grips with.
On this occasion, however, Spinomenal have made a significant effort to make the game feel a bit different from the other titles in their range by including a bonus feature that transports you away from the main reels and over to a claw game, where you can quite literally grab some prizes.
Child’s Play
Aside from the bonus feature – which we’ll get to later – the rules that underpin Toys Of Joy are fairly simple. The game features 25 fixed paylines and allows players to wager anywhere between $0.10 and $10 per line, meaning the minimum bet per spin is $2.50 and the maximum is $250.
Regular payouts vary from as little as 2x your bet per line for matching three purple sweet combinations all the way up to a juicy 500x your stake for matching five hippo toys. These wins can be enhanced further whenever a wild symbol substitutes for a regular symbol on a winning payline, with a 3x multiplier available when two are used and a massive 7x multiplier for three or more.
Beyond that, there’s really very little in Toys Of Joy to get your head in a spin. The game offers a 95% return to player statistic, with most of the bigger wins triggered during the free spins feature.
Toys R Us
In case you haven’t already guessed, in terms of visuals, Toys Of Joy is as cute as a button. The slot uses its own completely customised range of symbols – meaning there are no boring A-10 card value icons – and each of the higher values tiles has been lovingly depicted by a patched-up soft animal.
Featuring a bunny, tiger, bear, giraffe, elephant and hippo (all of which, in true carnival game style, have definitely seen better days), these stuffed toy icons are joined by selections of candy that denote the slot’s smaller wins as well as free spins, wild and bonus feature symbols on all five reels.
Audio-wise, the game features a range of background music that continues the cutesy-kitsch theme, with prize machine sound effects triggered by winning paylines and activating the bonus features.
All The Fun Of The Fair
As mentioned previously, one of the most unique features about Toys Of Joy is the game’s bonus round, which is triggered whenever three or more bonus scatter symbols appear anywhere across the slot’s five reels. When this happens, players are transported to a second gameboard designed to look like a robotic claw prize machine and will have to start picking their way to bonus prizes.
Each turn during the bonus feature, players must select one of three prize boxes, with the claw then whirring into life and descending to pick up a prize. Whichever stuffed animal the claw comes back up with will be transported to the left of the machine, and once three matching stuffed animals have been safely returned, you’ll win anywhere from 1-50x your total stake for a max prize of $12,500.
Be warned, however, that just like in a real claw game, you might not be getting a particularly fair deal! Every now and then, the pincers will release your prize, dropping it before it can be safely removed from the machine and forcing you to pick again. Though supposedly random, this element can be highly annoying – especially when you’re only one character away from scoring a big prize.
Attention Grabbing
Toys Of Joy is a pretty solid new slot offering from Spinomenal that combines simple game mechanics with bright graphics to good effect. Though the cutesy visuals and soundtrack may be a little nauseating for some, the game sticks to its theme superbly well and the bonus feature adds an extra element of fun to what is already a highly enjoyable five-reel slot.
