Invasion Slots
The fate of the entire planet is at stake, and you might be the only person able to save the day - and your species. Invasion by RTG is a video slot game based on an open gameplay with 243 ways to win and some fun bonuses to unlock. With an epic sci-fi theme, this particular game is bound to attract plenty of new players.
Invasion is extremely easy to play and boasts a variable RTP that can go up to 97%. This is coupled with a medium volatility that gives every player a decent chance of winning big every time the reels spin. Beware of the mighty alien ships and check out our complete review of Invasion to get to know the game a little more before you start spinning the reels.
The Invasion Has Begun
Invasion was inspired by classic sci-fi movies, with colourful flying saucers set on taking over the Earth. The reels are framed by alien symbols, as if they were etched within the hull of the starship itself. The graphic quality is a little retro, but the animations are definitely modern. Overall, Invasion has a rather unique look that gave us a positive impression right away.
Science-fiction slots can range from epic to low-key, and Invasion could be placed around the centre of the spectrum. We liked the way the game looked, without being particularly impressed either. In terms of gameplay, however, Invasion could have a few good surprises to uncover. Let’s check that out next.
Save the Day
Playing Invasion is as straightforward as it gets, especially thanks to the open gameplay mentioned earlier. No need to worry about paylines for once, just choose a wager between 0.25 and 125 credits and spin the reels afterwards. The 5 reels allow for 243 different ways to win at every turn, and all you need to do is line up identical symbols from left to right in order to start winning.
The autoplay mode will let you place the same wager over and over again for as long as you wish, which is a classic gameplay feature in modern slot games. Otherwise, Invasion can be quite unpredictable because of its medium volatility, which gives you equal chances to win big or small. The paytable contains the classic card icons, accompanied by hostile alien robots and flying saucers worth a maximum of 1000 times your current wager.
Aim for the Mothership
To spice things up a little bit, the RTG team has included some special symbols in Invasion. The Resistance logos, for starters, are wild and can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4. They do not have any specific value but instead can replace the basic reel symbols to boost your chances of scoring a cash prize a little bit.
The Invasion logos, on the other hand, are scatters. They can be worth up to x1250 in any position on the reels, and also trigger the Alien Invasion bonus. Target as many alien ships as you can to reveal bonus cash prizes, and perhaps pocket all bonuses at once if you manage to find the mothership.
Same Recipe All Over Again
As it turns out, RTG has a very consistent portfolio when it comes to online slot games. Other titles such as Six Shot Showdown or Gladiator Wars are based on precisely the same rules as Invasion. Even the RTP is similar across all of these games. As a result, you can easily switch between RTG slot games and you will still know exactly what sort of experience you will be getting.
For another dystopian, sci-fi slot game, check out Alien Robots from NetEnt. This game has a more challenging set of rules, with the possibility to unlock a 243-way pay mode as well. With up to 50 free spins to win as well, Alien Robots might also just be a little more ambitious than Invasion after all.
Not as Stellar as We Would Have Hoped
We did enjoy trying out Invasion, and if you like sci-fi games you probably will as well. Open gameplays are always exciting, and in the end the game does offer some very decent winning possibilities. The bonus game is a little tricky to get to, but once the alien starships appear you can be sure than some big wins will follow shortly.
In a nutshell, Invasion might not be as revolutionary as we would have thought in the first place. Being so close to other RTG games in terms of general rules, we were in familiar territory right from the start. We would still recommend Invasion for players with a love of sci-fi themes and ready for a good challenge.
