Express Casino is a dated online casino that looks like it was founded and last updated around 1998. Miraculously, the site was actually launched in 2016, though you’d never think it to look at it. There are flashing headers, rolling poker chips and other web elements that were okay in their time but which haven’t been used in years because times change, except for at Express Casino.
It would be easy to look past the fact that Express Casino isn’t the coolest site on the block were it not for so many instances where this website is actually broken. As a case in point, check out the latest winners banner that sits to the left of the homepage and which is chopped in half by the slider, rendering it illegible.
Some of the typefaces on Express Casino look smart; others look terrible. It’s the same with the stock photography, some of which passes muster and some of which looks cheap and tacky. Thumbnail images have been squished to fit them in, distorting the aspect ratios and cheapening everything. There’s a lot that’s wrong with this site, but it still works, for the most part at least. Mobile players can get involved provided they’re using iOS; the site has a mobile app that can be downloaded from the App Store and which will work on iPad and iPhone.
Express Casino is operated by ProgressPlay Ltd, a Malta-based company whose offices are in Valletta. They also operate numerous other casinos, most of which look and play better than Express Casino. ProgressPlay hold a gaming license issued by the Malta Gaming Authority as well as one courtesy of the UK Gambling Commission. The Express Casino Facebook page has over 6,000 likes, but these all appear to be bought followers as there is zero engagement on the page. It also has over 6,000 Twitter followers but again zero engagement so these will all be bots too. Don’t even look at their YouTube or Google+.
The text that appears on the site isn’t particularly easy to read because the site’s designers have chosen a serifs font that’s particularly unsuitable for mobile devices. Still, if you can make out the text, you’ll learn the usual stuff: that the site is committed to promoting responsible gaming and that it uses 128-bit SSL to keep player details secure. If you require customer support, you’ll need to get in touch via live chat or email using the clunky submission form on the website. Express Casino sure ain’t pretty but it works...just.
Like a lot of old-fashioned sites, Express Casino has a lot of options in its footer menu. Like, way too many. One the one hand, the newest single page responsive websites are often guilty of having too few links. At the other extreme, the old school sites like Express Casino are guilty of having way too many. There are separate links for deposits, withdrawals and banking, and while all of this information could have been put on one page, at least it’s here. The site accepts deposits using credit cards such as Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Visa Delta, MasterCard, Maestro, JCB, Solo, Switch, Diners Club and Discover.
UK players can also use Pay By Phone, depositing up to £30 a day, and European players can use Neteller, Skrill, iDeal, Sofort, GiroPay, Paysafecard, Trustly and many more. Withdrawal requests take three days to be processed. After that, there should be another day’s additional processing on top of that andthen another six business days for funds to transfer to your account. This seems like an awfully long time, but that’s just how some casinos choose to roll.
ProgressPlay use the same bonuses at all their casinos. This seems lazy, but it’s something most operators are guilty of. The welcome offer comprises a 100% first deposit match. This comes with a 50x wagering requirement. The remaining promotions aren’t going to win any points for originality. There’s a limit, after all, to how many Monday Madness promotions the world can take. There’s also a Weekly Surprise promotion which is delivered on Tuesdays, a game of the day, a live dealer weekend and a happy hour. Although the promotions aren’t anything special, at least they’re diverse and encompass slots, live games and table games.

There’s a VIP programme in place at Express Casino, although like the rest of the site it doesn’t look particularly prestigious. It’s nothing that a little TLC couldn’t fix; a smarter typeface would go some way towards improving Express Casino’s VIP page. In predictable fashion, it has five tiers, with players starting off at bronze level before levelling up to silver after amassing 500 loyalty points. Then 1,000 are needed for gold, 5,000 for platinum and 10,000 for diamond. Perks include VIP customer support, a birthday gift, personal account manager, personalised gifts and anniversary bonus. Most of this stuff is either tat or useless.
The selection of games available at Express Casino isn’t bad for the most part; they’re just badly presented. It’s the typefaces that are the worst aspect of the presentation coupled with the squished images. In terms of slots, there’s plenty to choose from at least including a good number of branded games. NetEnt’s influence is all over this casino, just as it is with so many online casinos. Sadly, not even their games can atone for the shoddiness of this site. On a brighter note, the slots can be played in demo mode as well as for real money. Choose from the likes of Ted, Jurassic World, Red Roo, Rainbow Riches, Jungle Jim and Gonzo’s Quest.
The progressive jackpot games don’t look great, but that’s not Express Casino’s fault: that’s the fault of the developers for crafting such crass and tasteless games that are obsessed with wealth, money and gold coins. The total value of the progressive jackpots is displayed at the top of the page and tends to average around €7 million. The value of each game’s pot is also displayed separately and includes the likes of Treasure Nile, Tunzamunni, Divine Fortune, Fruit Fiesta and Cash Splash. A selection of mobile games, roulette, scratch cards and live casino games rounds things off.
Express Casino is a site that looks atrocious. There’s no point in being charitable and trying to point out the good elements of this site when there are literally thousands of better sites you could be playing at. Life’s too short to waste your time on substandard casinos whose graphics, typefaces and promotions are all below par. It really makes no sense why operators with so much experience in the gambling sector go on to release certain sites that just drag them down and damage their brand. Express Casino has some good games, but then so does every other online casino. Go play at one of those sites instead where you’ll have a much better time.
