Fruit Loops Slots
It’s a shame fruit isn’t made up of chocolate and sweets. It would be so much easier to have the 5 a day we’re told is good for us. But is fruit any more enjoyable here on the PlayPearls game Fruit Loops?
Fruityliscious Setting
The mood of the game is set straight off from the loading page. The name is in colourful letters and there’s a mixture of fruit. Not just because there is a pepper, a plum and a lemon represented, but because each of them has a different facial expression.
The same tone is kept with the main display. Fruit Loops is written in floppy red letters at the top with two tree stumps either end of the screen, framing it neatly. As the reels are transparent you can also see the green hills, fluffy clouds and big farmhouse. Some of the characters in the game are at the back of the screen. So you have a pear, an apple and yes, a broccoli.
Which is one of the peculiarities of the game, as broccoli is a vegetable. It’s not like there are a shortage of fruits to choose from. But maybe that’s part of Fruit Loop’s charm. After all, it’s not common for fruit, or any inanimate objects, to be given expressions. And they aren’t all happy. While the pear and watermelon look like they’d be ok to hang out, the grapes and one of the lemons wouldn’t. The fact there are two lemons with different facial expressions and credits is another oddity.
Fruit as a Spice of Life
The betting style is the same as quite a few other PlayPearls games. You can’t change the 25 lines but you influence what you can win by how much you decide to put in. It starts off at 0.1 which becomes a bet of 2.00.
There are also options for 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 1.00, 2.00 and 4.00. This adds up to a maximum bet of 80. There isn’t a maximum bet button but you can use Autoplay if you fancy letting the symbols play for you. There are no settings for how many spins so it is a simple enough process.
Top of the pile in terms of credits is the chilli pepper. Full marks for originality. You don’t see that fruit in many games at all. It has the facial expressions to match, with yellow eyes and a teeth-bearing smirk. If you see 5 of them you get 30 credits, with 10 credits if you get 4 and 5 credits if you get 3. The ranking value goes from up to down and in 3 columns. There’s also the use of half credits in the case of the plum, broccoli and both lemons.
The music has a slight outdoor vibe but could easily be on a detective TV show and demonstrates how challenging it is to get a fruit-themed sound. It is easy enough to listen to, especially as it has plenty of chords and touches of xylophone and violin.
Loops Within a Bonus
The 2 specialist symbols are certainly distinctive. The wildcard is a chilli pepper. Unlike the regular symbol this one is a real firecracker. You can see the big red letters, fiery flames and a Mexican sombrero hat. As befitting such a flaming symbol, it burns through all other cards except for Free Spins.
And the Free Spins stands out just as much. It’s a dish filled with a mix of fruit, with added cream. Perhaps for such an appealing symbol, it’s fitting that it is the most valuable, with 5 of them worth 40 credits. If you see 4 of them it is 15 credits and 3 is valued at 8 credits.
The Paytable has the same background as the main screen for all 3 of its pages which is a bit of a shame. All the information has the grey/black background. The green buttons for the Help and Autoplay, as well as the volume and full screen options, blend in well. The yellow button for Start is a nice touch for standing out. It’s all very neat and pretty with white lettering having a black background.
Fruit Loops Ain’t Too Tasty
While pleasant enough to look and listen to, it isn’t the most fun or spectacular to play. The fact that the bonuses aren’t too original and the prizes aren’t too high means that while it doesn’t leave a bad taste, it isn’t quite as sweet as you’d like.
