Haunted Hotel Slot Machine
Spooky games are more popular than ever, and players looking for a bit of a fright with a good dose of humor on top have a lot of titles to choose from, and we are here to introduce one more to the selection.
Haunted Hotel is a video slot game developed by NuWorks with a cartoonish look and high volatility to keep players on the edge of their seats. All the classic elements of the horror genre are here, from the haunted mansion and the dark graveyard to the strange creatures lurking in the shadows.
On the practical side of things, Haunted Hotel features 25 fixed pay lines on a standard 5x3 layout hiding a generous free spin bonus begging to be discovered.
The game has a very similar look to so many other creations, but in terms of game play you will be close to Quickspin’s Epic City. But the comparison stops at the more obvious game play elements, as Haunted Hotel is a little more challenging that your average fun and quirky horror slot game. Let’s discover why in our full review here.
On a Dark and Scary Night
Haunted Hotel is more spooky than it is downright crazy, and in terms of graphic atmosphere you will be quite close to Fangtastic, another NuWorks slot game with a very close feel. The reels take up the most part of the screen, with a view of a creepy-looking hotel lost in the middle of nowhere at the top.
The protagonists of the game are apparently meant to stay there for the night, and they do not seem particularly enthusiast about it. You have to admit that the undead staff was never mentioned on the hotel’s brochure.
Haunted Hotel is controlled by the classic NuWorks command bar at the bottom, with its many command buttons allowing you to control many aspects of the game right from the start. Use the arrow to choose your line bet, starting with as little as 0.01 credit, and activate as many of the 25 pay lines as you wish.
This is the major game play difference with Fangtastic right here: no open game play but specific pay lines you need to aim at during the game.
As for the pay table itself, Haunted Hotel stays in character and sticks to original reel symbols, completely avoiding the ultra classic card icons, for once.
The menu is actually quite rich, featuring first of all some innocent items such as a bell or a guest book, and then taking players to the next level by introducing some members of the hotel staff such as the cleaning mummy, werewolf cook or Frankenstein’s creature as the general manager. One element worth noting is that the maximum reward from the basic pay table is already the equivalent of 10,000 times the value of your current wager.
Definitely Not Your Usual Hotel Staff
Now that you are a little more familiar with your new surroundings and aware of how high the stakes can be, it is time to move on to the special features available in Haunted Hotel. The first item of interest is a classic wild card, embodied by Dracula himself.
The blood-thirsty vampire has the unique ability to replace the other symbols at will whenever it lands on reels 2 and 4. Wilds also triple the value of the combinations that they help complete, raising the value of the maximum reward of to 30,000 credits, which in itself is a sizable jackpot.
The Haunted Hotel logo is yet another symbol of interest, this time a scatter ready to trigger a cash prize in any position on the screen. 3 or more scatters in view simultaneously initiate one of the 3 mini games available in Haunted Hotel. In Bloodsucker Bucks, you win 12 renewable free spins with stacked wilds on any reel, while Very Vamp will last for only 5 free games but guarantees than the central reel will be covered in wilds.
The Haunted Hotel feature is the last possibility, where you need to open doors to reveal as many bonus symbols as possible. 10 free spins will ensue, during which each of these bonus symbols will turn wild instantly.
No Tipping Required
Haunted Hotel does not really strike the eye in terms of graphic quality, but it would be a shame to dismiss it are classic or boring for that reason. High-volatility games require players to be a little stubborn, as they can deliver very big wins if you are willing to take your time and bet a little extra on the reels.
Haunted Hotel also features 3 different random progressive jackpots, ripe for the taking at any time during the game. Keep an eye on the counters on top of the reels, and your fingers crossed just in case.
