Bar X Magic 7 Slot Machine
The classic fruit machine market was thought to not be long for the world when slot games began to come out on masse and new technologies began to rule the roost. These games though, have had decades to build up a loyal fan base and show absolutely no signs of going anywhere, in fact, to satisfy customer demand games developers still have to produce new versions, as a result we have slots like Bar X Magic 7.
The Bar X series from IGT is actually a range of simple casino style slot games all with a unique hook or playstyle. This title, sharing it’s tic tac toe theme with the other Bar games in the range, adds in the classic 7 fruit machine symbol as a third pay icon which is massively more lucrative than the other two.
Theme
The Bar X Magic 7 slot uses a classic slot game machine layout, with physical style control buttons on the screen for you to press just as if you were operating the game in some old time Las Vegas casino back in the day. There’s no big audio or video sequences, nor a hint of animation to be found, the enjoyment on this slot is in its pure simplicity and ease of use.
If you like the big modern video slots with their array of bonus features and stunning visuals, it should be clear there are going to be better games on the market. Similarly if you are a huge fan of the single line 3 reelers in your local casino or bar, this game will be exactly what you want and expect it to be.
Gameplay & Features
There is but a single pay-line available on the game so to play it is simple a case of selecting a stake between 0.01 and 3.75 and spinning away on the reels. The bet range is decidedly on the low side, it is clear high rollers are not the target market for this game and would be better off looking at other options, Black Magic Fruits would be my own personal choice.
The game also lacks a free play mode and doesn’t suit mobile play so much given the dated visuals though, as a desktop game, it plays perfectly well and is available no download at most of the casinos which stock it. What livens up the game for me is the use of the traditional hold and nudge features, these are a rarity nowadays, even on simple 3 reel slots such as this which they suit so perfectly.
It is with the hold and nudge that you stand your best chance of lining up three of those magic 7 symbol for a 50x bet win, the bars will land you x20 and the crosses x10. With only those three combinations available, you don’t need much of a strategy other than managing your bankroll.
Summary
Bar X Magic 7 might seem like a game out of time in many ways, but given that there is still a huge following for these games, new titles make sense, it’s also hard for developers to do much inventive with a 3 reel 1 line slot given the limited options of the structure. With that in mind critiques are largely irrelevant, while the game may not inspire from a creativity point of view, it does everything that a game in this genre does, and does it well.
