World Cup Football Slots
Football is the most popular sport in the world, and every four years the FIFA World Cup tournament takes place. Fans of teams from all the competing countries go soccer-mad for a few weeks – or at least until their team gets kicked out, after which interest seems to die down pretty quickly. Unlike the actual FIFA World Cup tournament, you won’t have to wait for four years to pass before trying to score some wins in the World Cup Football video slot, as it’s waiting for you to play it at online casinos all year, every year.
World Cup Football is a five reel, 50-line game that’s packed with a hat-trick of footy-themed features such as free spins, reel respins and wild substitutions. Excellent graphics include football players and high card symbols, which are joined by animated balls and a goalkeeper who jumps across the reels. The excitement of a World Cup fixture is heightened by the chants of the crowd in the huge stadium seen behind the reels.
World Cup Football comes from the studios of Genesis Gaming, a multinational company with offices in London, Vancouver, Manila, Taipei and Las Vegas. With a roster of over 200 games – including famous slots like Machine Gun Unicorn and Alaxe in Zombieland – to its name, Genesis Gaming has become one of the hottest developers going. We’re sure that World Cup Football is going to be another hit for Genesis. With the game having so many features, plus a high return-to-player percentage, there’s no penalty in trying it out.
It’s also a slot that’s guaranteed to deliver fair results, with all of the Genesis Gaming range licensed and regulated by both the UK and Alderney Gambling Commissions. The developer’s slots are also certified by independent testing labs, with World Cup Football able to declare average returns of 97.1%. Will you score with this game, or will it be an own goal? The First Half
Instead of the more usual three symbols per reel, the ones here are in four rows. Still, you win in the conventional way by landing enough examples of the same symbol across a line in sequence from the left side. You win multiples of the amount staked per line when the main symbols appear across the reels. A wild symbol helps boost the bankroll by acting as others if it’s then able to complete a combination. The scatter icon pays multiples of the total bet before taking you to a free spins round, and it can appear in any places.
You’ll need at least three of the same playing card symbol to win anything. Each is designed to look like part of a soccer jersey, so they fit in with the theme. Depending on how many reels they land on, the 10 and J pay 5x, 25x and 75x the line bet, while the top card symbol is the A, paying out 15x, 40x, or 120x.
Four football players are the more valuable symbols, and each will only need to be seen on reels one and two from the left to pay a prize. While there’s no reference to which team they play for, we’re guessing one is Swedish and one is Japanese. There’s also an England player, while the most valuable is the Spanish guy. He returns prizes of 5x, 30x, 100x and 300x your stake per line. The famous World Cup trophy is a wild symbol, although it’s not worth anything on its own and is just there to complete more combinations for you.
If any of the player symbols are stacked on a reel, the special Give and Go respins feature is triggered. The stacked player and any wilds in view will remain locked in place while all other reel positions spin for free. Any new payouts are then calculated, but if another stacked player appears in the respin, the feature is repeated. It’s possible to get all reels filled with players in this round, although if you’re unlucky, you get different players on each and won’t win anything.
The Second Half
The game logo on a football pitch is the scatter symbol. Whenever it appears on reels one, three and five at the same time, you are given an initial prize equal to three times your total bet, in addition to being awarded 10 free spins. These are called the Hat Trick games, and there’s a couple of ways that you can claim more wins as you play them.
While the Give and Go respins are still active throughout the free games, you will only need to see part of a reel covered by a stacked player symbol to trigger them, rather than all four symbol positions at once. Once any non-player wins are awarded, the reels will nudge stacked reels until football players fill them – and then the Give and Go respins begin. If you land more scatter symbols before the free games are over, the bonus spins are retriggered, and another 10 will play out once the current games are done.
Extra Time Without Any Penalties
Although you can have bets on any number of paylines, anything less than all 50 runs the risk that a big winning combination lands on an inactive line and you miss out on collecting a prize. So, most players will activate all lines, which can be done for just 1.00 per spin. The high limit is set at 400.00, with loads of options in between to suit any bankroll.
The little arrowed circle below the reels is an autoplay button. Click it to open a control panel where you set the reels spinning for however many times you want while choosing win or loss limits that stop the auto spins. The auto spins will also pause if the respins or free games are triggered. You can also choose how and where to access the game, as World Cup Football is a mobile-optimized slot machine that can be played on iPhones, iPads, Android and Windows mobile or tablets.
The Beautiful Game
The action moves to Brazil in the Carnival Cup slot from Nektan. Five reels of passionate supporters bring the party to life, and if you’ve just finished playing World Cup Football, you could get a sense of déjà vu as jersey-styled playing card symbols and a wild trophy appear. It’s a knockout slot machine that also awards you with free spins when you see three scatter symbols on the pitch, and with the sounds of the crowd cheering you on, you could be looking at payouts of up to 2,500 coins.
While it’s not an imaginative title for a sports-themed online slot game, Football from Endorphina makes up for this with fun cartoon symbols and some rewarding features. Red and yellow cards are telling players off, while a smiling boot, a stopwatch getting ready to press the timer button on its head, and a grinning whistle all give this game a comic appearance. The laughing football is a wild symbol that doubles a win when it’s called on as a substitute, plus you get to enjoy 15, 30, or 45 free spins when three, four, or five scatter symbols appear.
The Final Whistle
We certainly won’t be giving World Cup Football the red card, as it’s a game that looks good and has some unique ways to reward you. We particularly liked the Give and Go respins, which have animated goalies leaping across the reels to celebrate wins. We weren’t so keen on the relatively high 1.00 minimum stake, though. Coins are valued from 0.02 each, and we can’t help but think that a 0.01 minimum for a 0.50 wager would have opened the game up to more casual players. But this is a minor issue that won’t affect most punters. You can practice on free World Cup Football video slots if you need to warm up before the main event.
