Resurrection of Dragons Slot Machine
While lots of online casino slot machines feature the occasional dragon symbol on their reels, fans of these mythical beasts should check out the Resurrection of Dragons video slot from GamingSoft, because it’s absolutely stuffed full of them. From the fiery creatures who fill the screen as the game loads up, to the serpent that slithers across the reels adding extra wilds to the mix, and even in the progressive jackpot side game, it’s a real treat for anyone who likes them.
It can also be quite a treat for anyone who simply likes lots of winning spins, as there’s 50 paylines running across the 5 reels and landing matching symbols across any line, in an unbroken run from the left side is all that’s needed to claim a prize in the base game, but special bonus symbols can help out as well.
There’s flickering flames to either side of the main game, and columns complete with dragons entwined around them are to either side. Above, we see the 4 levels of the progressive jackpot feature, while below is a control panel where spinners set their bets from a low limit of 0.50, while they can also choose a fast spin mode, or get them spinning on autoplay for any number of times.
Hot Winnings
Most of the symbols are in a rich golden colour, which contrasts perfectly with the red flames and gives the Resurrection of Dragons video slot a very classy appearance. Even the playing card symbols are gold and return prizes ranging from 10x, 25x and 250x the line stake when the 10 or J stop on 3, 4 and 5 reels, to 20x, 75x and 500x when the K or A appear.
A blue spellbook and dragon statue are each valued at 50x, 200x and 1,000x, while an elaborate golden bowl and a phoenix rising from the flames are each worth up to 1,400x. A fierce dragon head returns the best prizes in the normal game, landing players with 2,400x their line stake, although the special wild coin symbol is worth the same.
This lucky coin is also able to replace standard symbols, filling in any gaps in matching symbol lines or extending a win-line of 3, or 4 symbols further across to the right for a higher value prize. There’s dragon wilds that can appear randomly after any spin, in a nice animation that sees a big creature stretching across the game, hopefully landing more winning lines to the reels.
Free Spins Feature
A green orb hasn’t got an obvious link to dragons, but never mind, as it’s a rewarding scatter symbol that triggers free spins bonus games when it stops in any 3 or more places at once. If just 3 appeared, players see 8 extra games, while 4 scatters will launch 15 spins and the best option is for 5 or more to appear, as this sees the start of 20 free games.
They can’t be retriggered however, so once the bonus round is over, players are returned to the base game where they will have to try and land another 3 or more scatters to get any more free spins.
Progressive Jackpots to Heat Things up
A gold and blue Yin Yang symbol, embellished with yet more golden dragons, starts a progressive jackpot round when it appears on reels 1, 2 and 3 at once. The 4 jackpot values are shown above the reels and players who enter the round are guaranteed to win either the Mini, Minor, Major, or grand prizes.
Players at the low bet limits qualify for 10% of any jackpot, while those at the maximum stakes win 100% and to see which they have won, they will need to click on the 12 golden urns shown in the dragon’s lair. Once 3 urns have revealed the same jackpot, it’s paid out and even at 10%, there’s still some decent wins to be had, particularly at the Major and Grand levels.
The Verdict
We really like the Resurrection of Dragons slot, but there’s a couple of issues that stop it from being our favourite GamingSoft online casino game. The main point is that it’s not mobile-optimised, although it looks like more and more of their range will be soon, and we would also have liked to have seen a potentially richer free spins round. Some players may feel a little hard done by when they don’t scoop 100% of a progressive jackpot, but this format is in effect across the range.
Other than this, it’s a beautifully-presented slot machine, well up to the high standards that we have come to expect from this developer, and with wild substitutions along with the bonus games available, it can still be a rewarding slot to play.
You can play free Resurrection of Dragons video slots, or spin for real cash at the growing number of casinos that feature games and software from GamingSoft, although there are plenty of other dragon-themed slot machines available online, with 5 Dragons by Aristocrat and the similar Double Dragons from Bally being particularly popular.
