Poseidon Slot
As the title references the God of the Sea, known for causing shipwrecks when angry, you might think Poseidon Slot was serious and intense. You couldn’t be further wrong.
Despite its misleading title, this is a 3-reel, 5-payline real cash slot game themed more by Ariel and The Little Mermaid. Because if you can “turn off your mind, relax and float downstream”, this low key and fun game is for you.
Water Way to Take it Easy
This game has such a relaxing vibe, you’ll feel tempted to get a cocktail drink as you picture yourself sitting by the beach. The background is a blue sea that could easily come out of a holiday brochure. There’s even a palm tree in the distance. The fact there is nothing much else going on the picture adds to the simplistic, at ease, vibe. Though there are only 3 reels and a maximum of 9 paylines showing at any time, it’s actually rather small.
The music continues the relaxation. No fast pace or power chords here. Instead it’s slow guitar strings and the odd piano sound. Though the background is dominated by blue the fact the symbols have plenty of colours does help, especially as the gaming buttons below are almost all white. The only exception is the yellow spin button.
Darling it’s Better Down where it’s Wetter
As there are only 5 winning lines, it’s not a complex game. Really easy to dive in! There are no rules and only two pages on the Paytable as if to prove it. There are 2 main options for gameplay. By playing for any line between 1 and 5, and playing for 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 or 500 per line, means you can be far more adventurous than most games. How confident are you?
It does lose points though for only having up to 25 Autoplay spins. Worse is that you can’t even choose within that number. It would be easy to widen this and encourage further gameplay. Despite the tranquil vibe, you can speed the game up by ticking the Fast Play, though you won’t notice too big a difference.
The symbols have been well chosen. It’s always easier to stay in the theme when all the cards relate back to the title. It isn’t a great a surprise there are only 8 symbols in total that but it’s still good to see. Highlighted by our favourite red-headed mermaid, they are all designed in a cartoon-like style. You’ll want to reach out and grab the pearl from its oyster. Well, and the treasure. The angry-looking Poseidon, despite being the most valuable symbol by some distance, is seemingly out of place.
Not Wild About the Lack of Bonuses
If you’re not fussed about games with little in the way of bonuses this will definitely appeal. There’s no hiding from the fact that this game could benefit from a Wildcard, Scatter and Free Spins.
It would be easy to add a game that features the quirky symbols. Why not one where you have to guess which oyster has a pearl inside? Or having to avoid the net that the pirate ship throws?
But while its regular bonuses are poor, it does have rather spectacular wins on offer if you play at Bet Max. And I do mean spectacular. By using the 500 credits section per bet, you really can clean up big time by seeing 1.6m credits if you hit 3 Poseidons.
The coins coming down the screen and screen shaking make sure you aren’t dreaming. To put this in perspective, 3 Waves gets you 25,000 credits and 3 treasure chests 200,000 credits.
Risk More, Win More
This game does have far more to it than what’s on the surface. Don’t let its fluffy images, relaxing music and small number of winning lines fool you. There is the chance to take more risks, and win more on those risks, than on most slot games.
