Rainbow Riches Win Big Shindig Slot
This slot is a sequel to what has become one of the most popular live slot games in the UK. The original Rainbow Riches continues to have an army of fans, and this follow up with softer cartoon graphics manages to keep both the spirit and the game-play of that original. There are fewer bonus features on ‘Win Big Shindig’ than ‘Pots of Gold’ with the ‘well’ bonus round a notable omission. To balance this there is a 25,000 coin top prize from regular play.
While the theme is certainly the luck of the Irish, most of the symbols on the reels are playing cards. There is the obligatory leprechaun, which plays a significant role and a logo which is both wild and stacked. With this kind of theme I’d expect the minimum of a four-leafed clover, wishing well and pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. You’ll get a mix of the standard Barcrest sounds when the reels spin, and Irish tunes when you hit a winning combination. When you trigger the main bonus round, you’ll get some great graphics and a full-on Irish jig to tap your feet too.
There is one bonus game on the reels, and another which takes you to a wheel with the Leprechaun dancing in the middle of it for this game.
Setup and Play for Rainbow Riches – Win Big Shindig
This is a 20 line slot, which you can play from 2c per line up to $25, for a spin range of 50c through to $500. Auto-play is available for up to 25 spins. You’ll also get the chance to gamble any wins. Rather than the standard flip of a playing card system for this, there is a wheel which allows you to visually set your chances of winning. For me this is a distraction from the main game, though if you enjoy some extra volatility then this is your opportunity to add it.
The Rainbow Riches logo is the best paying symbol. If you bet the maximum number of lines you can win the top prize of 25,000 coins for 5 on a line. This symbol comes stacked, making multiple smaller wins possible too. Remaining symbols are all playing cards and have more modest pay-outs. The Ace and King are worth 250 coins for 5, and the others 100 coins.
There are two special symbols. First the wild, which is a gold coin with a leprechaun on it. This substitutes for all of the playing cards and the logo symbol (though not the hat).
That hat is the bonus symbol. This appears on reels 1, 3 and 5 only and hitting all 3 will trigger the bonus sequence.
Rainbow Riches Win Big Shindig Bonus Round
Hitting 3 hats changes the display so that they all have a flashing sign saying ‘pick me’. When you click on one of them you will either hit a coin amount (which will be awarded instantly) or the word ‘Bonus’. The bonus takes you to a break out screen where you’ll find the leprechaun dancing to a jig on top of a rock – with a mountain scene in the background.
Around the rock are a ring of pots with coin amounts on them, some fairly large. You hit the pointer at the bottom of the screen and the wheel spins and eventually stops – revealing your prize. This is a good-looking bonus game, though your interaction in it is fairly limited.
Rainbow Riches Win Big Shindig – Conclusion
I was expecting this sequel to at least match the previous Rainbow Riches game in terms of the features on offer. With just the single wheel-based bonus game, this was a bit of a disappointment. On the positive side the chance to win 25,000 coins from regular play does make up for that somewhat. The graphics are better too; with a more cartoon feel to them giving a lighter feel overall to the game. I can see this one becoming a popular live game, if nothing else then the solid Barcrest game play will ensure that there are plenty of fans. If you have enjoyed the previous Rainbow Riches slots, then this is definitely one for your shortlist – check it out for yourself soon.
