Golden Book Slots
Golden Book is an exotic slot game from Amatic themed on the mysteries of India. This game features symbols related to Indian royalty with a Princess and Prince spinning on the reels alongside a grand palace and the intriguing golden book of the game title.
There are a number of extra features in this game, including an incredible 576 ways to win, wild symbols, scatters and free spins. A simple game with an amazing number of ways to win but a limited number of options, this is a solid offering from Amatic for players who enjoy exotic adventures.
Before You Set Foot on Indian Soil
To prepare for your Indian adventure you need to decide on your bet. This is an unusual game in terms of paylines because instead of the usual paylines you find in most games, you simply have 576 ways to win. In effect, this gives you a huge number of winning opportunities and you are pretty much guaranteed a winning spin every time, if not perhaps a highly lucrative one. The lack of ability to choose paylines means this is slightly less flexible than many games, but the large number of ways to win more than makes up for that.
You can still alter your bet per spin by clicking on the ‘bet’ button at the bottom of the screen. This moves your stake up one increment at a time to give a minimum bet of 10 credits and a max bet of 5,000 credits. The fact there is no down or minus button means if you overshoot your bet, you have to keep clicking to go all the way through the betting scale again to find the bet you want to place, which is not a good design.
The exotic theme is immediately apparent with the symbols all relating to either India or luxury, suggesting we are perhaps in the presence of Indian royalty. Symbols here include a green-eyed Indian Princess wearing a jewelled headdress, a bearded Prince wearing a blue robe, a grand white palace, a large yacht, a pink rose, a tiger, and a golden book. There is no music in the game, so this is a lost opportunity to inject some more Indian flavour into the atmosphere.
Golden Payouts
The payouts in this slot are potentially generous with the golden book of the title awarding the biggest reward of 250,000 credits for hitting 5 matching symbols while playing max bet. There is no explanation in the game of the significance of the ‘golden book’, we only know it is the most important symbol in the game. The second-best symbol is the Princess who pays 125,000 credits fo5 5 symbols at max bet, while the third-highest paying symbol is the Prince who pays 50,000 credits for 5 symbols at max bet.
Other symbols include the tiger and the grand palace, which both pay 37,500 credits for 5 symbols at max bet, the pink rose and yacht which both pay 25,000 credits for 5 symbols at max bet, and the high card symbols which all pay 2,500 credits for 5 symbols at max bet.
The wild symbol is the green bar with the world ‘wild’ written across it in gold. This stands in for all the other symbols in the game except the golden book scatter to create more potential winning combinations.
Open the Book for Bonus Spins
The golden book symbol is the scatter in this game and has the power to award a number of free spins. Match 3 or more golden books in any position on the screen to receive 10 bonus spins. This round is fully re-triggerable, so you can potentially win more bonus spins from within the round. This golden book is the best symbol in the game as it gives the opportunity to trigger huge number of freebies if you are lucky.
Exotic Fun but No Great Adventure
This Indian-themed game is a decent offering from Amatic but it is simple in design and gameplay, so those looking for a more sophisticated adventure might be disappointed. There is also no music which is a shame as the Indian theme would benefit from a lilting melody from a sitar to add some atmosphere.
Payouts are decent and with 576 ways to win, this means payouts tend to be regular. The golden book icon can be lucrative too if you are lucky enough to keep spinning this symbol, especially if you manage to launch the free spins round and re-trigger it a few times.
The graphics here are attractive and colourful which is always appealing, but the lack of more interesting features means this adventure is unlikely to hold players’ attention for long.
