Crystal Gems Slot
Slot games are all about having fun and hopefully amassing riches, so what theme would be more appropriate than gem mining?
Crystal Gems is 2x2 Gaming’s take on this glittering theme, with plenty of shiny jewels hidden deep under the surface of the earth. It is up to the played to excavate them and bring them to light.
But there is more than pretty stones to Crystal Gems, and if you are in the mood for a little digging then sticking around for a little while and read our full review of the game to know all there is to know about it!
Gold Digging
Crystal Gems is set in an undisclosed location, seemingly unattractive but with many riches hidden underground.
The background of the game shows a mountain with heavy-looking rocks piled on top of one another. The entrance to the mine is visible in the distance. The graphics of Crystal Gems are quite realistic despite the lack of details, but what you see is enough to let you imagine the many hidden gems and crystals hidden beneath the surface!
The original theme coupled with the good quality graphics help create a simple but efficient universe for players to dive in right from the start, and the bright colours used around the reels and for the command buttons are reminiscent of the jewels you will soon be digging for.
Underground Riches
In order to get to these buried precious stones, we must firs take a look at the gameplay of Crystal Gems.
The game set consists of five reels and 25 paylines running across them. You cannot use the coloured side tabs that flank the reels on both sides to activate as many paylines as you usually would: the 25 paylines are fixed, permanently activated. The (+) and (-) buttons at the bottom of the game screen are here to let you adjust the Chip Size and the amount of your bet itself. You can always keep an eye on the total amount of your bet thanks to the Bet display on the right-hand side. Click the green Play button once you feel ready, or the Bet Max switch to go all-in if you feel lucky!
Winning combinations appearing on activated paylines trigger a cash rewards which is immediately added to your credit total. The size of the reward depends on both the symbols lined up and the amount of your wager: you gotta play big to win big. You can bet between 0.01 and 25 credits per spin.
One last option available to you is the Autoplay mode. Use it to set a specific number of spins to bet on in a row, without interruption, with a constant bet. The perfect option for bold players who enjoy a more seamless gaming experience!
Shiny Menu
Most of the symbols in Crystal Gems are, quite predictably, precious stones and crystals. But not all of them.
You will also find the classic card symbols, from number 10 to the Ace in ascending order of value. Their design is nothing to shout about, and neither is the size of the rewards they trigger, but they show up very frequently on the reels and you will have more chances of scoring several winning combinations at a time with them.
The upper half of the paytable is filled with the promised shiny jewels: yellow, blue, red, green and a giant Diamond to top it all off. They clearly are the main attraction of the game, you cannot miss their shiny glow on the reels. Their rewards are also noticeable larger than the card symbols’, but not as high as in other games.
Last Special Features
The fun is not yet over: there are a few remaining symbols in Crystal Gems we need to focus on…
The Wild symbol stands out from the rest of the icons. It can replace any of the basic symbols listed previously. A five Wild combination awards 2,000 times your initial bet, the highest payout of all!
The Mine Cart is a Scatter, which triggers Free Spins regardless of alignment. During the free games, Multipliers can be won to further increase the payout of each winning combinations. These special symbols also act as extra Wilds.
And on top of that, every spin brings a chance to trigger the Crystal Mystery Bonus: pick a gem for an extra cash reward.
A Little Gem?
Crystal Gems has a promising title and delivers a decent dose of entertainment. The random Bonus round is a nice touch, but the relatively low payouts and simplistic symbols are a bit of a let-down. Crystal Gems still has a decent design and good entertainment value, so why not try it out? If it doesn't tickle your fancy 2by2 offer a selection of other titles like Cosmic Invaders.
