Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Slots
Dudes, babes and people of San Dimas – prepare yourselves for a most bodacious experience!
Based on the hit 1989 film, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, this The games Company-designed, 5-reel, 40-payline slot sees you join Wyld Stallyns’ two charismatic front men as they travel the circuits of time collecting historical figures to pass their high school report and save the world as we know it.
Featuring video clips, quotes and pictures of all your favourite characters, the slot is the ultimate homage to a truly iconic slice of pop culture – and with cascading reels, wild symbols and bonus games that offer some generous multipliers, you could also bag yourself some most excellent profits.
Party On, Dudes
One of the refreshing things about Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is that unlike many other franchised slots – which merely offer a recognisable skin and not much else – The Games Company really seem to have made an effort to create a unique playing experience that still remains true to the original film.
On beginning the game (and at certain subsequent points during play) you’ll be asked to pick a historical figure for your school report, with each selection activating a classic clip from the movie to introduce your chosen character. Not only does this serve as a great little bonus for fans of the film, it also breaks up the monotony of spinning reels and helps keep the game fresh and exciting.
What’s more, each and every successful spin is greeted with a quote from Bill, Ted or their mentor and guitar maestro, Rufus. This adds a degree of authenticity to the game and really helps create something that stands apart from your usual film tie-in slot – even if it can grate during a bad run!
Most Savoury Visuals
As you’d expect, the graphics used in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure all centre on classic imagery from the film. The high value symbols on the reels consist of Bill, Ted and the two English princesses, while even the standard A, K, Q, J and 10 symbols have been modified slightly to incorporate guitars.
The classic Wyld Stallyns band logo is also featured as – you’ve guessed it – a “wyld” symbol, while the time-travelling phone box makes an appearance as an expanding symbol that turns all icons on a reel wild. Rounding out the selection of iconic images from the film are Rufus, who enables you to add another historical figure to your collection, and a futuristic guitar, which starts the bonus game.
In terms of presentation, the slot looks clean and fairly basic, though the phone box animations and video clips triggered by collecting historical figures do help Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure stand out from the crowd; which is good because it would be a shame to waste such engaging subject matter.
What Number Are We Thinking Of?
By now you’ll no doubt have noticed that collecting historical figures is a big part of the Bill & Ted slot. When you start the game, you’ll get to pick from the likes of Socrates, Billy the Kid and Abraham Lincoln to begin your collection, with the corresponding character lighting up on the game board.
From there on in, every time a Rufus symbol appears on any of the five irregular-sized reels, you’ll get the chance to choose another character up until you’ve managed to round up the full set of eight. This is important as, should you activate the bonus game by matching three or more guitar symbols, the more figures you’ve lit up, the more free spins you’ll get and the better the multiplier.
In practice, this means that with a full set of eight historical figures collected, your bonus game can last for a very long time indeed, giving you a chance to rack up some impressive cash totals without risking another cent. All historical figures remain lit up until the bonus feature is activated, unless you decide to switch stake, in which case they are reset to zero and must be collect all over again.
Catch You Later, Bill and Ted
All in all, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure serves up an entertaining slot game that is unique enough to satisfy fans of the films yet simple enough for anybody to play. While the bonus features could certainly have been expanded, the clips and quotes from the movie do just about enough to hold the attention, making this quirky slot a mostly triumphant effort from the team at Obodo.
