3 Wheel Roulette by IGT
Roulette is not a game most people associate the phrase “multi-tabling” with in the same way they might, say, online poker. Much of the charm of this game comes from the fact that you can play at a reasonable pace, enjoy the long history and tradition of the table, and bask in the atmosphere that an elegant wheel, a well-dressed croupier, and one little ball provide.
But in the 21st century, we’re always looking for ways to reinvigorate our old favorites. IGT has tried to innovate the centuries old game by creating 3 Wheel Roulette, a fascinating twist on this classic betting game. In many ways, you can play this game just like the traditional version – but one look at the wheel will immediately make it clear that this is unlike any other version of this classic you’ve played before.
One Wheel, Three Levels
Despite the name, this online casino game actually displays just one wheel. The game is played like European roulette, with a single zero on the layout. However, instead of just one spinning circle of numbers on the outside, there are three different rotating parts, each of which moves at a different speed. That means that on each “wheel,” you are very likely to see different results.
So, every time you make a bet, you’ll be making it three times. Place a $1 bet on a variety of numbers, and you’ll see that the game actually has you making $3 bets – effectively, you’re betting a dollar on each of the three outcomes.
The full variety of betting options you’d find at a land-based casino are here, including all of the inside and outside bets. You can also use a couple of shortcuts that are included: the red and black splits buttons will give you all of the available splits (two spot bets) available on the layout, and the two “dragon” buttons give you bets on numbers of those colors that make a winding pattern down the table.
Once you’ve placed your bets, you can trigger a spin. As in a standard online roulette game, you’ll watch the wheel spin and the ball fall into an inner pocket associated with a number. After that occurs, however, the two outer circles will continue to spin for a few seconds, until they too come to a stop. The numbers that line up with the pocket in which the ball stops will be considered the second and third results for that spin. Each number will apply to one of the three bets you were forced to place at the start of the spin; for instance, if you bet $3 on black, and two of the three numbers are black, you’ll make a profit of $1 after two of your bets win and the third one resolves as a loss.
If you’re ever unsure about which numbers you want to bet on, this game provides you with the result of the last 300 numbers chosen on the wheel. As a shortcut, you can even use a couple buttons in that history to immediately place bets on either the six hottest or coldest numbers over the time period.
Side Bet Offers Big Rewards
Another aspect of casino gaming that you’ll rarely see at the roulette table is a side bet. But IGT has added an interesting side bet to 3 Wheel Roulette, one that can potentially offer jackpot wins to lucky players.
In order to play, you can place a bet on a special spot for the Colour Up Bonus. This bet will pay out should the three numbers that are spun coordinate in a variety of different ways. If all three are of the same color, that’s enough for a 2x payout; a pair of two numbers is 5x, while a straight (three consecutive numbers) is worth 10x. Pair two zeroes together, and you’ll win 25 times your bet.
The big money comes from “triplets,” which occur when all three spins result in the same number. A standard triplet is worth 100 times the bonus bet, bigger than any standard prize. But the real jackpot comes from triple zeroes, which pay out at 1200-1 -- enough to make any session a memorable one.
New Twist on a Beloved Classic
IGT hasn’t reinvented the wheel here (no pun intended), but it does add enough twists to give this a very different feel from more traditional forms of the game. It’s a little bit lower variance on each spin, since having three results means it is much more likely that some of your bets will win. At the same time, it opens up the possibility of some enormous wins should a single number bet hit on two or three wheels at once – and that’s without even considering the bonus bet. If you love roulette but want a little more action each time you play, it’s definitely worth seeking this game out at an IGT casino.
