Funny Farm Slots
SimplePlay is still on the outskirts when it comes to online slots, as they have yet to release that genre defining game. Because of this, a microscope is placed over every game that the developer releases. This is certainly the case with Funny Farm, with people eager to see if this proves to be a mould-breaking title that serves up some fun slots action.
What SimplePlay is built upon is gimmicks, with this often proving to be a double edge sword. While everyone loves a bit of silliness, sometimes SimplePlay seems to go over the top, with it dragging the game in question down as a result. This brings up to the big question, has Funny Farm found the right balance between silly and serious? Is this really the game that SimplePlay fans have been waiting for? There is only one way to find out!
Life down on the Farm
If you’ve booted up Funny Farm in the hopes of finding a low to medium variance title that stands on the edge of innovation, we’re afraid that you are going to feel a little bit short-changed. This game pretty much follows the exact same layout as other SimplePlay titles, just with a new skin thrown on top. The theme this time around is a farmyard, which really isn’t all that creative in our opinion. While the animations and cartoon graphics are charming, within the design of Funny Farm there is very little to actually write home about.
The symbols may carry high production levels in Funny Farm, but that’s pretty much the only thing worth mentioning. Every icon has a gimmicky look, with some of the symbols even looking a little off. For example, the eyes of the pig symbol just don’t look quite right to us. Funny Farm probably doesn’t have the worst UI we’ve ever seen, but it’s hardly the best either.
A Change of Ways
We’ve counted our blessings, as Funny Farm appears to be doing something new with its gameplay. Gone are the usual 30 paylines, with a 243 way to play framework stepping up to replace it. This really does deliver some serious excitement, as the winning opportunities are pumped up to the max. Sadly, what hasn’t changed is the cost structure within the game, as it’s still the same old 6.00 to 60.00 payscale that you’ll find in other SimplePlay releases.
The pay-in scale does fall a touch flat at Funny Farm, but it is somewhat redeemed by the payouts. Standard payouts in this game are a bit boring, but the progressive prize pots raise the stakes. There is actually a triple-header of helpings here in Major, Minor, and Mini jackpots. Escalating into the big leagues, these progressive jackpots are well worth playing for.
Boring, Boring, Boring
It’s back the boredom when it comes to bonus features of Funny Farm, as the game doesn’t really have all that much to offer players. You have the wild and scatter symbols as standard, but that is pretty much all that there is here. It’s a shame that SimplePlay have really only half-baked the bonus features in Funny Farm, with this game certainly dragging its heels.
On the Hunt for More of the Same
Funny Farm isn’t actually that great a game, so for us to recommend that you play something similar is a bit of a grey area. That being said, we would probably recommend that you stick within the SimplePlay family if you truly are after more of the same.
Looking at what’s out there, from the 243 ways to win standpoint you have a few options to choose from. Filtering out the games that simply aren’t worth playing, the two that happen to be favourites of ours are Innocent Classmates and Creepy Cuddlers. Both games are similar in gameplay, even if the themes are a little on the side of the alternative.
Running Wild on the Funny Farm!
Funny Farm is hardly the most enjoyable real money slots game around, as it doesn’t do all that much across its 5 reels and 3 rows. However, it is worth noting that it does throw out a few features in its 243 ways to win setup and progressive jackpot, which means it’s certainly worth a few spins to spend a harmless half hour.
