Lucky Leprechauns Online Slot Machine Review
This slot has a jolly Irish theme, with all the classic symbols like 4-leaf clovers and harps – all to the sound of traditional Irish fiddler. While many aspects of this game are the standard 5-reel video slot fare, for example scatters and free spins, there is an interesting extra with random wilds. A leprechaun walks over the top of the reels, dropping some magic dust to create a wild at random. If it were not for the fact that my eyes kept following the leprechaun, rather than the reels, this would be a great addition. Like all Saucify slots the resizing of the reels is very smooth – these slots are bright and bold enough to work nicely on the smaller screens of mobile devices.
The bright colours do separate the symbols well, though the playing card symbols seem to outnumber the original ones by a long way – taking away from the overall appeal. Animations are small scale, though very effective. The sparkling wilds which the leprechaun drops in are very effectively produced and the regular leprechaun does a little jig when he is included in a win. While I do not consider myself a fan of traditional music, the jig, which is on a continual loop in the background of this slot, did have me tapping my toes while playing.
Aside from the random wilds, the only feature of note is a free spins bonus game. While there is not much difference between this and the main game, at least the wins are tripled.
Setup and Play for Lucky Leprechauns
There are 40 win lines on this slot, which are selectable. You can control both your coin size and the number of coins played for each line. The max is 25c, 10x coins per line and 40 lines, which gives a spin cost of $100. You can spin for 40c instead if you wish, and can play automatically using the auto-spin feature. Strategy and volatility are important thing to think about when you select your wagering amounts.
The manic looking lucky leprechaun himself is the wild for this slot – and also has the biggest prize of all the symbols. You can win 8000 coins with 5 on a line, and 800 coins for just 4. This symbol substitutes for all the regular symbols though not the Harp and the Rainbow scatters. There is another wild, which is given at random by a leprechaun walking across the top of the screen. This replaces on of the regular symbols, and in my experience was given more than half of the time.
Of those regular symbols the pot of gold is the best paying by a long way, with 7000 for 5. Next comes the 4-leaf clover (1400), emerald ring (1000) and the lucky horseshoe (500). After that the playing card symbols, ace down to nine, make up the smaller wins which will keep your bankroll ticking over.
Rainbow symbols are the scatters with prizes attached. These are based on your total spin amount, and not coins like the regular symbols. If you get 5 of these, then you’ll win 100x your total spin cost, with 20x for 4, 5x for 3 and 2x for 2.
The harp is also a scatter, though this triggers the free spins game instead of awarding prizes. There are 15 spins for 5, 10 for 4 and 5 for just 3 harps anywhere on the reels.
Lucky Leprechaun Free Spins Round
In common with almost all Saucify slots, the free spins game is generous – though does not have any outstanding features. All wins are tripled while your spins are in progress; this makes the biggest win 24000 coins (for 5 wild leprechauns). The random wilds do not appear during the spins game, though you can retrigger with 3 or more harps. Other than a counter on top of the reels, this feature is identical to the main game.
Lucky Leprechaun – Conclusion
Luck of the Irish slots are a popular niche, with just about every slot maker having a titles based on this in one way or another. This is a decent game, though nothing particularly amazing occurs during play. I like the random wilds (even with the distraction of the Leprechaun), which add a new dimension compared to many Saucify games. The 3x wins for the free spins round is also a plus. Having said that 5 spins for 3 scatters (the most common outcome) is on the low side.
A solid slot, which has been nicely produced – I rate this as one to try out on occasion, which is unlikely to feature in many people’s top lists.
