Beaky Bingo Review

When attempting to judge any digital gambling portal several thoughts initially cross your mind. The first of which is usually what the overall feel of the website is. Serious? Lighthearted? Ridiculous? Inappropriate? Just plain old Dust Bowl USA Weird? In the case of Beaky Bingo it's definitely in the lighthearted category. The friendly parrot – not that we're experts on tropical birds – acts as a kind of mascot for the business itself, and you can almost imagine him squawking hilarious quips at you as you play. There's a problem, though, and one that goes well beyond whether or not this brand idea makes any proper sense.

Overall, Beaky Bingo looks as though it was made in the late-1990s. The design is rudimentary, unpolished, and generally gives the impression of things being a little, well, worn out. The resolutions of everything from font to pictures to outline to background colours are particularly low- notably so, and that says something considering we've reviewed a fair few slot-only sites in our time and these often resemble the back room of a pub that has seen better days.

All About Logic, Not Looks

Thankfully, what the site lacks in any sort of aesthetic appeal it makes up for in functionality, or rather logic as a focal point for design overall. Things- and by things we mean options and click through links and information- are where you would expect them to be. Granted, this doesn't exactly scream 'original', but there's a very good reason so many casino and bingo sites use the exact same template, and this has nothing to do with driving poor desperate reviewers like ourselves to distraction.

Put simply, if it ain't broke then what's the point in even beginning to consider a fix. Be that quick or otherwise. As such, when scrolling down the landing page of Beaky, you first see the company branding an logo, then a row of menu options you can click on and be redirected to specific areas of the website. Beneath this is something a little 'different', and by 'different' we mean clutching at the straws of what you could possibly ever want – an online radio station dedicated to gambling soundtracks. We're not sure exactly what this may mean, but let's just say that there's a very strong likelihood those looking for something remotely cutting edge will find themselves coming up short.

Next up you have a large banner advert promoting the website's sign up offer, which isn't bad by halves but we can come to this later. And, finally, you have a selection of thumbnail image links that again offer to whisk you off to specific areas of the website. Hardly revolutionary, this approach to site design definitely makes sense, it's just a shame that it feels like you're staring at the site though a very poor, grainy camera lens, making clarity an issue and image quality very poor to say the least. First impressions would suggest, then, that this was once a great, but has fallen into a state of disrepair.

How Does it Play?

Yeah, fair point. We've gone on enough about the site design enough. Not that we would ever agree with anyone trying to argue that design isn't relevant as a key aspect in a review. Still, we all came here to play, so let's move on to what these games are like. Well, it's not a bad selection at all, but it's certainly not the best. Marring this even further is the fact that once again the website looks like a not-so-well-polished... Well, you know.

Clicking on the Games option on the top menu row will immediately take you to the first tab in the games area – Featured Games. Here you'll see a small selection of game that have been highlighted presumably due to their popularity and (or perhaps or) the website's desire to get you playing these specific titles.

Featured and Jackpot Slots

Tab over from here one and next up you have Featured Slots. Again, these are games that are actively being promoted to you for one reason or another, and it does help to separate the slots from the rest even in the Featured context, because some people really will just be here for slots and nothing more, meaning this allows them to immediately see what the most recommended slots are, without having to trawl through any other type of game.

Tab another over and you have the pretty self-explanatory Jackpot Slots. Well, OK, perhaps it's not that self-explanatory given all slots have jackpots, so let's be a bit clearer- these are the slots that offer accumulative winnings. Another tab over offers you Scratch Cards, which are as they sound- digital versions of the cards you buy in corner shops- simply scratch to reveal if you have won (or click and watch some basic animation show you what would happen if these cards were real cards and you scratched them.

Welcome to the Casino

The final option in the Games is Casino, but this seems to be a bit of a confusing title. On the one hand, yes there is blackjack and other familiar games from Casino Royale, but on the other you also have a version of the smash hit TV show Deal Or No Deal, which is about as casino as someone who has never really been inside an actual casino before. Ultimately, it has to be said that this entire area feels like an afterthought and as such it's not really offering anyone very much. If you want casino website action there are far better places to find it.

What About the Bingo?

Here's where things get a bit odd. While Beaky Bingo was born from a firm called Beacon Bingo, which runs real world bingo clubs in the UK, before moving to set up shop independently online, amazingly there doesn't really seem to be much online bingo actually being played – there are no menu options for bingo we could see, which begs the question, why use bingo in the name?

Generous Promotions

What Beaky lacks in promotions it makes up for in promotional offers, sort of. OK, so actually there aren't that many, but those that are here are pretty generous. Depositing £10 and playing with £40, for example, is really very good, and much better than many rival sites offer. Meanwhile, offering players the chance to win £500K on the last weekend of any month isn't bad, either. Overall there aren't loads of promotional offers, however there are enough to make this section of the site competitive up against rivals.

Beaky Bingo Conclusion

We'd love to say that Beaky is a really good bingo website but, sadly for the developers, there's no real way we can. First and most glaringly- there's not much bingo advertised outside the members’ area. We're assuming there are bingo games going on for those with accounts, but realistically you're not that likely to confirm this as you'd need to sign up for an account- hardly traumatic but a lengthy form filling exercise nonetheless – before working this out. Add to this the very old look and feel and put simply there are much better, more expansive and comprehensive alternatives on the market. That said, you'll struggle to find a better sign up offer or indeed better deals in general elsewhere, it's just a shame that this positive remark is the exception to, rather than the rule itself.
