Troya Slots
Take part in one of history's most famous sieges with Troya, a 5-reel video slot from R Franco software. Players who last the course of this low to medium volatility slot machine will be able to raid the city for wins worth up to 25,000 coin. That's not a bad return for sitting around in a wooden horse for a few days!
This slot machine is far from being the perfect game. In fact, we came across a number of glitches in the paytable while playing the slot machine and, from the looks of things, there are no free spins or special bonus games to keep players entertained during the long and arduous siege.
Fact or Fiction?
The story of Trojan War is one of the most famous tales in antiquity. From Homer's account of the siege in the Illiad and the Odyssey to the Aeneid of the Roman poet Virgil. And when we say “story”, we mean it, because there is still rife speculation as to whether the accounts of the Trojan War were realistic or just pure fiction, such as the part where undercover warriors hid inside a giant wooden horse to trick the people of Troy into thinking they had outlasted the siege. Also, if you were to read one of Homer's accounts of the war, you would probably be a bit dubious about episodes including shape-shifting gods and magical apples! Whether it happened or not, it certainly makes for a good story, however, and part of that story is retold in this slot machine by R Franco software.
The 5 reels of the slot are presented as part of a rampart along the wall of Troy, placing punters deep into the thick of the action. Upon the reels, players will come across symbols that depict the main characters from the war story, including the formidable warrior Achilles, the beautiful Helen of Troy and the almighty Zeus himself. Other symbols reveal weaponry and armour that is typical from the Hellenistic world as well as ships, statues and the iconic Trojan Horse.
Missing Links
This slot machine comes with 20 paylines and a low to medium variance level. As such, there is a fairly good chance that players will be able to bag a winning spin without having to lay siege to the slot machine for ten years like the Greek army did during the Trojan War. Players will have plenty of room for manoeuvre when it comes to placing their bets on the board. That is because there is an option to play with any amount of paylines from 1 to 20 with coin denominations from 0.01 to 1.00 as well as the option to place bet per lines from 0.01 to 0.05. So, the minimum possible bet with all paylines in play is 0.20 while the maximum bet is a hefty 100.00 credits.
Things get a bit confusing when it comes to the paytable of this slot machine. That is because the game appears to be running with a glitch which causes the paytable to withhold information about certain line bet multiplier values. From what we were able to gather, however, we can tell you that five matching 'Troya' symbols on an active line will multiply the line bet by 5,000x. That's not too shabby for a low to medium volatility slot.
Bare on the Bonus Front
Another downside to the malfunctioning paytable is that we cannot glean any information about this game's bonus features, or if it has any special gameplay elements at all. What we can confirm from playing the game is that the Zeus character icon acts as an extended wild symbol, appearing in stacked formation to replace other icons and complete line wins.
Slots of Ancient Greece
The history, myths and legends from Ancient Greece are fascinating, and this is no more evident from the wide range of slot machines that are influenced by tales – true or otherwise – from the Hellenistic world. There are games which offer their own take on the Trojan War such as Trojan Horse by Zeus Play and Troy Super Spin by SkillonNet while others focus on the deeds of the gods, such as in the Age of the Gods series by Playtech software.
A Sloppy Slot
Truth be told, this slot machine is severely let down by some technical issues. Chiefly, the fact that the paytable doesn't outline the game's winning potential in a clear and succinct manner will obviously deter a lot of spinners out there. Plus, the lack of any obvious bonus features is another downside. Then again, the game does have one thing going for it – it is based on one of history's most exciting tales of war...
