Green Lantern Slots
Superhero movies have come a long way since Green Lantern was released. When it first appeared on the big screen, everyone was quick to jump in with their criticism, which in turn has led to many references to its poor development. However, while the film may have left a lot to be desired, the slot machine is surprisingly vast in its possibilities, essentially making up for earlier disappointments.
Green Lantern is one of many superhero slots that Playtech have created, and so if you enjoy joining in on saving the world, there’s plenty of other avenues to explore after this one. But for now, let’s focus on all the features of this 5-reels real cash slot.
What is more, in addition to the generous gameplay, you also have a highly interactive and well designed theme with which to work, ensuring that the overall effect is as immersive as possible. When compared with the Avengers, also from the brand, you see that Green Lantern blows all superhero competition out of the water, slots wise at least.
Filling Up
If you’ve taken the time to load the game, you’ll notice that the spin button doesn’t have its usual setup - this is because it grants access to further extras, if you know how to utilise it.
Whenever a win is made on any of the active lines, however small, the widget will reveal a gauge with several sections; you need to fill these sections in order to savour the bonuses inside. However, there’s a slight problem… all your wins need to be consecutive, otherwise the gauge resets.
During our brief playthrough, we never got past a couple of wins before everything was reset and we started from scratch. Frustrating though this was, as the feature isn’t the only one of the game, we didn’t feel all that cheated by the mechanics of gameplay. Furthermore, due to having 243 ways to play this slot, you feel that you’re in with a lot more chances of landing a win.
Which Mission?
Associated with the Green Lantern Power Bar, aka the gauge, are three bonus levels; one of them will be triggered once you have enough juice in your engines. To get there, you need four successful charges, at least, otherwise you can kiss any feature gaming action goodbye.
- Fear Fight: When you enter this level you have a free games experience, but with an exploding twist, leaving only stacked wilds behind. The more charge you get from the power bar, the more wilds will appear in the rounds.
- Training Center: Essentially the same as before, only now you get 10 free games; honestly, the brand should have just sandwiched these two rounds together and left it there.
- Secret Sector: Oh look, 10 additional games for us to play, but with multipliers instead of wilds.
As you can see, the variance here is relatively low, even though the names and aesthetics of each of the rounds is trying to tell you otherwise. You basically get the same level over and over, with just a few minor changes thrown in, a bit like the free games selection in the Avengers slot.
DC Cash Wins
Just as they did in their Marvel games, this DC one has a progressive jackpot that requires some extra work before the amount lands in your account. There’s the Grand, Major, Minor and Mini, with the first of them being the largest payout of all.
To get any of these amounts, you first need to enter into the DC Jackpot mini game, where you’ll then have to match symbols with the associated level. Once you’ve managed all that, the money you’ve won will be credited to you; sounds easy, no?
When we played, the Grand Jackpot was only just over 200 credits, which doesn’t feel that grand to us, and so we wonder how amazing these jackpots actually are when you play for real.
Feeling Green
As we said right back at the beginning: the Green Lantern slot is miles better than the film that much is obvious. That being said, it still falls short, with only its graphics saving it from being at the bottom of the pile.
