Treasure of the Nile Slots
Treasure of the Nile is an Ancient Egypt video slot from Parlay Gaming. The 5-reeler, which has 20 unfixed paylines, is one of the better Ancient Egypt-inspired slot games on the market. The game features scatters, wilds and a bonus game, all of which serve to compel you to look beyond the somewhat done-to-death theme.
Because the paylines are unfixed, and gamers can stake as little as 0.01 per line, Treasure of the Nile should appeal to a swathe of players. The jackpot is only 5,000, though, so high rollers should probably take their business elsewhere.
Egyptian Reels
Treasure of the Nile’s graphics aren’t mind-blowing, but they’re not too shabby either. Every icon is some form of stone tablet, with a symbol etched upon it. Do we really need to tell you what the symbols are? We’re sure you can figure them out. No? OK, so there’s an Eye of Horus, an Egyptian worker, a bird… What’s that? We needn’t go on because you’ve played one or all of the hundreds of Ancient Egypt slot games? No problem!
Happily, there are no playing card icons to detract from the overall theme of the game: every symbol is related, in some way, to Ancient Egypt.
In Treasure of the Nile, all wins pay left-to-right except scatters, which pay in any configuration. All wins are multiplied by coins-per-line, except scatters. Only the highest win is paid per line.
The control panel is set along the bottom of the reels. From here, you can view the pay-table, toggle the number of paylines or set your coin values and bet-per-line. If you simply wish to bet the maximum, hit Bet Max. When you’re ready to get started, press Spin to manually spin the reels, or activate the AutoPlay mode. You can play up to 750 spins in AutoPlay, although most tend to play 10, 25 or 50.
Scarab Free Spins
In order to win yourself a bunch of free spins, you need to land matching combinations of the golden scarab. It’s easy to tell that this triggers free spins, as the word FREE SPINS appears on the symbol itself. Three, four or five of these grants you 13 free spins. The combinations are also associated with so-so pay-outs in the pay-table: 10 for three, 20 for four and 80 for five.
Not only that, but all wins during free spins are tripled (excluding bonus wins). The free spins feature can be re-triggered, and scatter wins are added to regular line wins. All bets and lines played are identical to the game that started the free spins.
Ankh Wild
As well as a free spins scatter, there is a wild in play. The wild is the ankh symbol, once famously associated with the late guitar hero Prince. The ankh stands in for all symbols in the game except for the scatter and bonus, and it grants some very impressive pay-outs. You’ll win 15 for two, 150 for three, 1,500 for four and 5,000 for all five.
The bonus symbol, meanwhile, is the Egyptian bust, which helpfully has the word BONUS stamped underneath. You have to find three, four or five to enter the mini-game, during which you’ll pick random objects to reveal cash prizes. Depending on how many bonus symbols you find, you’ll win three, four or five picks. The bonus can be triggered in either the base game or during free spins, and bonus wins are added to regular line wins. Wins shown in the bonus game have already been multiplied by the total bet, and the maximum bonus win is 1,000.
Random Jackpot
Enticingly, Treasure of the Nile grants all players the chance of winning a mammoth jackpot every time they spin the reels. A winner is selected at random, so you have as good a chance as anybody. Just be informed that you cannot be selected if you’re playing a round of free spins. You gotta plug some cash into the machine to be in with a shot of winning.
Buried treasure?
Treasure of the Nile might be flogging a dead horse, but if you can still stomach video slots based on the wonders of Ancient Egypt, give this one a go. Not only are there free spins to be won, but there’s a random jackpot, a bonus game and a high-paying wild symbol.
