Monster Cash Slots

The name ‘Monster Cash’ conjures up the image – for us at least – of a demented Trump-esque creature, dollar-sign eyes flashing, huge mitts fashioned from bricks of banknotes. Monster Cash would be a linchpin of capitalism, a figurehead for financiers the world over.

OK, so Monster Cash the money monster doesn’t really exist – but Monster Cash the OpenBet video slot does. This progressive, horror-themed slot game has 5 reels and 20 paylines, and joins an ever-expanding roll call of ghoulish casino games centred on creaking doors and ear-piercing screams.

Monster Cash, which is free to play in demo-mode or for real money at a host of online casinos, is packed with bonus features to keep you coming back for more. Are you sufficiently stout of heart to give it a go? First, read our full breakdown of this monstrously good slot.

Grabbing cash in the graveyard

Monster Cash is set in a spooky graveyard under a glowing moon, and it has some of the best graphics to be found among OpenBet slots. Behind the transparent reels, we can make out spooky headstones and cenotaphs, wreathed in mist. Between spins, meanwhile, the sound effects are of thunder crashing, wind blowing through trees, the howl of wolves and even the blood-curdling scream of a tortured man. A bat even swoops across the reel grid at one point. It’s all very immersive.

When you’re spinning, things are a little less sinister. OpenBet don’t want to spook gamers to the extent that they close the tab and find another slot to play! Spinning the reels, you’ll hear upbeat Addams Family-esque music rather than the haunting audio of before.

Below the reels, you’ll find all the usual controls. Regulate your stake-per-line, which goes from 0.01 to 20, then determine how many lines you wish to play. You can play on one, two, three, right up to 20. At max bet, then, the stake is 400 per spin. There’s also an Auto Play mode, which enables you to play five, ten or 25 automatic spins.

Monsters, bats and stone gargoyles

The symbols in Monster Cash include playing cards, five thereof: 10, J, Q, K and A. Among the base play symbols, there’s also a grey gargoyle, a vampire bat and a Monster Cash logo.

Special icons, meanwhile, include an artfully designed wild, which is the word WILD in blood-coloured writing, the tops of the letters sporting flames. A series of wax candles made out of blood? Yeah, that’s pretty creepy. As well as being able to substitute for other symbols, excluding the bonus scatters, the wild pays 100 for three, 300 for four and 500 for five in a line. The wild can appear on all reels, so it should come in handy to help you form wins.

There are no fewer than four scatter icons to watch out for. They include the mummy, Frankenstein, Dracula and Spooky Spins icons.

Find three mummy scatters anywhere on the reels and you’ll trigger the Mummy Bonus. The mini-game is set in the graveyard, beneath a massive moon. You’ll be shown a whole bunch of headstones and caskets, all of which represent prizes; the gravestones contain cash prizes while the caskets contain multipliers.

Frank’s Dash is the second bonus game, and it is activated when you find three or more Frankenstein symbols. Frank’s Dash is a dashboard showing various buttons and controls. Just press the green button and the creature will move a certain number of places along the multiplier scale. Keep at it until you land the large red X, which ends the round. If you make it to the end, you’ll win 160x your bet.

As for Spooky Spins, this one holds the key to free spins. Land three or more to win five, 10 or 15 free ones. Free spins can also be re-triggered from within free spins.

Lastly, the Dracula logo is the gateway to winning the ‘Drac’s Cash’ progressive jackpot. You need to land five of these anywhere in view, and while they are very elusive, there are no minimum waging requirements to be in with a chance of hitting the big one.

A Spooky Slot Game

OpenBet have, not for the first time, come up trumps: Monster Cash is a hell of a slot. Jam-packed with bonus features, the game is immersive, innovative and fun to play. Even without the progressive jackpot, this one would be highly recommended. With it, it’s a must-play.
