Reel King Slot Machine
Only a few online video slots that are designed in the traditional classic fruit slot manner have managed to stay afloat overtime, but Novomatic seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to fruit slot crossovers, and Reel King is among those games. The original land-based Reel King was built by Barcrest, and Novomatic has done a good job recreating this nostalgic video slot adapted for online play via their flash slots platform.
A Video Slot with Classic Symbols
Though it’s not rare for Novomatic to develop a fruit-filled video slot to serve as a modern-day edition of the classic fruit slots to appeal to classic slot fans, Reel King stands on its own, despite the competition. This 5-reel slot offers 20 paylines (its first advantage) and is laden with a variety of classic symbols, including Cherries, Plums, 7s, Jackpot symbols represented by overflowing bags of gold, and the Wild (gesture hat). It also features K, Q, J, and 10 secondary symbols like the ones featured on online Joker Poker games.
The Wild symbol can help to complete winning payouts that are otherwise missing a piece of the puzzle, when it lands in the correct position within an incomplete combination to save the payout. Wilds can appear stacked and do so quite often, increasing players’’ winning chances. To unlock the maximum 50,000-coin jackpot, get stacked Jackpot symbols on all reels when playing at the maximum 100-coin bet.
Reel King Bonus Feature
Look out for the Reel King bonus feature to trigger at random intervals throughout play. In this feature, the Reel King (for whom the slot gets its name) makes a cameo appearance to play his own slot game (because he’s the king and can do whatever he wants). This game pays true homage to the classic 3-reel slots to which the king is apparently partial. While reveling in memories of a simpler time, he spins the reels incessantly, paying out wins on any combination of color coated 7s, making payouts according to the special 7s payout schedule that starts at 2.00 (3 7s any color) and features higher slot payouts of up to 25.00 (3 Red 7s). His indulgence continues until a non-7 symbol appears. At that point, the feature ends, and the player will be awarded any winnings incurred as a result of the king’s random act of kindness. In addition, the Reel King bonus feature will apply a multiplier worth anywhere from 5X to 500X your total bet.
Far-Reaching Limits
With bets per line beginning at 0.02 bets per line and an adjustable 20 lines, essentially, the lowest bet available for Reel King players is 0.02, which would only get you one active payline. While there are people who play in this manner, it does not allow players to get the full benefit of the game and is more or less a way to just play free slots but for real money. In other words, it is not likely that the one line bet on is going to result in a winning payout that often, and the wins not going to be very significant anyway. So, many players don’t see a point in this, but some do just like to spin the reels without much worry about risk to reward odds and such.
However, players who do like to play all the lines available on a game in an effort to cash in on any and all winning combinations made possible by a spin outcome, Reel King makes it affordable to do just that with a mere 0.40 bet total on all 20 lines (playing at the minimum 0.02 bet/line level. On the other side of the spectrum, a 5.00 bet/line max is set, and to cover all 20 paylines in Reel King, it would cost a 100.00-coin bet. There are also many other options that lie between these two extreme examples. All that being said, Reel King can accommodate the majority of bankrolls for online slot players who budget for longer sessions or higher payout opportunities.
Verdict
If you love the Reel King video slot, then you will most likely love the Rainbow King slot, also from Novomatic, simply because the themes are almost identical, sharing the same king, who apparently in the Rainbow King slot reigns over the rainbow, while simultaneously holding sovereignty over the reels as well in the Reel King. Both encompass broad betting options, classic fruit symbols, and general overall ambiance. However, Reel King is missing the superfluous bonus opportunities available in the Rainbow King slot.
