Lucky Ladys Charm Slots
Amidst the crazy video sequences and array of game features on modern casino slot games, it can be easy to forget the simple, but fun games which many of us used to play on. Indeed, back when Luck Ladys Charm was a land based casino slot, we didn't think it was basic at all as it offered a lot of improvements over the standard fruit machines on the floor.
Novomatic, when they moved into online as well as physical games, evidently sought to remind us how entertaining this particular lucky lady can be, by turning this classic casino machine into a new online version for all to play in either real cash mode, or just for nostalgic fun in demo play.
We approve, and, after a few hours of spinning these lucky reels, are reminded quite why simple games can sometimes be the most rewarding.
Theme
Despite being quite simple to play, as with many early visual based slots, Lucky Lady is a little non-congruent in its theme, we'll start with the colours, which clash worse than your grandma's curtains in a modern apartment block. The deep dark scarlet's of the pay-table and reel backdrop really don't work with the bright, vibrant tones used on the reels, let alone the gold and green of the game logo.
All that being said, it adds to the games rustic charm, like a cheesy 90's horror flick, we see its faults and find them cute rather than annoying. This opinion does come with one caveat, the sound effects are appalling, mute them and throw something on youtube instead!
The low pay symbols on the game are, of course, playing card icons, something which I frequently lament the use of in modern games but don't mind here, as this was how all the best slots were at the time! The lucky but rarer high paying symbols on the game come in the form of a Ladybug, Gold Coin, Four Leaf Clover, and (not so lucky for the rabbit) a Rabbits foot.
Unusually these are paired, with the Coin and Clover as one group and the Ladybug and Foot as the other, both having equal values to each other. This doesn't apply to the Lucky Lady herself who stands alone with her ability to both grant you extra combinations as a fixed wild, and, big wins in her own right, including the games jackpot if you can line her up five times on the reels. The scatter, some form of crystal ball or mythical orb, also has its own payout values rather than just triggering a bonus, be aware, this is the only symbol not substituted by the wild.
Features
They don't really come that much easier as a beginner slot than this, with 5 standard reels, 9 active pay-lines and a bet range from 0.01 - 450.00 credits there is a little something for all budgets here, from low rollers to high stakes players, even as newcomers to the slot gaming world.
All wins are from left to right on an active payline, with the exception of the scatter which pays out in any position on the reels, what you really want though is three or more, which will grant you an initial 15 free spin rounds with a 3x multiplier for the duration of the bonus games.
The spins aren't particularly special when compared to the very best online slots, they don't play on a separate reel set for instance or use a different wild structure to the base game. That being said, the 3x multiplier is a nice addition and you can re-trigger the spins, also because the scatter has value on its own, you will already be starting the free spins round with a decent win. The spins value is calculated at whatever bet you placed when you triggered them to begin with.
Summary
With an RTP of over 97% and a decent size fixed jackpot of 4500 game coins, Lucky Ladys Charm has something to offer in both available game modes. Whilst the ageing graphics may not please all, it does ensure the slot plays pretty seamlessly across most devices due to the low requirements of its graphics. If you are looking for a first online slot, an introduction so to speak, this lady may have all you need. When you are done with her, you can always play the sequel, Lady Lucks Charms Deluxe, as a next step on the slot ladder.
