Vegas Matt’s biggest score
There is no better feeling when playing slots than finally taking down a huge jackpot. The thrill of the chase, and the ability to win a huge sum of money for a small wager is the main attraction of the game, and what keeps slots as the most popular game to play in casinos.
However, there is one time when hitting the jackpot might not be as satisfying as you’d expect – when you’ve had to put in more money to actually get it.
Speaking on the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast, gambling YouTuber Vegas Matt was asked the most he’d ever one on a single jackpot.
Matt responded: “I think it had to be the Regal, when we hit the $170,000… one jackpot, $170,000.”
How much did you put in to hit the $170,000?”
That wasn’t the whole story, however. Comedian Lou Dinos, who was also on the podcast, had a further question which some listeners might have also been wondering: “How much did you put in to hit the $170,000?”
The answer quickly came back: “$310,000… we were chasing a certain jackpot, so we lost $140,000 that day, but that was my biggest jackpot.”
Is it really a jackpot?
The answer attracted much discussion on both the podcast and on X, with users debating on whether the score should even count as a jackpot after it left Matt in the red when he hit it.
“That’s not really a jackpot,” Dinos responded, before host Mandel joked: “I’m not great at math, but I would think… you know.”
Matt continued that he hoped his media appearances would help him land a deal with a Las Vegas casino, saying: “You know how they have in-house DJs? I’ll be the in-house gambler.”
“That’s a good investment for somebody, considering you’re excited about winning $170,000 and spending $350,000,” quipped Mandel.
“It’s a great investment for the casino,” Matt admitted.
Matt still trailing Kessler
Vegas Matt isn’t the only well-known slots player to have hit a big score recently.
Just last month, poker pro Allen Kessler made the headlines for taking down a gigantic $1.2m score from a $125 stake when playing in Thunder Valley.
Kessler, who is renowned on Twitter for his trash talking of other pros and questionable dietary habits, scooped the jackpot on the Aristocrat Buffalo slot. And with a lot less than $1.2m put in to earn it, Vegas Matt will still have a way to go to catch up.
