Judge to Consider Lawsuits From MGM Workers Fired for Refusing Vaccinations

A group of former MGM Resorts International workers who claim they lost their jobs for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccination have filed wrongful termination lawsuits. A federal judge is expected to consolidate these six complaints this week.

The plaintiffs claimed religious objections meant they could not get the vaccinations in 2021 when MGM mandated that all salaried employees who couldn’t work from home get them. The casino company refused the submissions for religious exemptions and these people lost their jobs maintaining their stance.

The lawsuits claim that MGM violated state and federal laws by discriminating against their workers.

These people worked a variety of jobs, including casino floor management, food and beverage, and marketing, covering numerous MGM resorts in Las Vegas, some working for the company for as long as 28 years.
