A couple in Florida had a horrifying end to a recent date night. It started off like a dream when they won a $3,000 jackpot at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa but soon became a nightmare when two men shot and robbed them outside their home.
Little did they know they were being observed by their two attackers
Kim Chambliss and her boyfriend Val Delacruz were playing slots at Hard Rock for two hours on August 2 before they hit the jackpot. Little did they know they were being observed by their two attackers. Marcus Jenkins and Tristin Wright stalked them the whole time they were playing, eventually following them all the way home.
Jenkins, 34, and Wright, 36, ambushed the couple on their driveway just before 5am. In CCTV footage observed by police, one of the suspects pointed a gun at Delacruz who tried to plead with them before being shot in both legs.
Delacruz explained to FOX 13 that he was shot three times in the end. “I ran and I fell in the door and the other guy came out and shot me again for the third time in my left leg,” he said.
The attack was cut short when a neighbor came outside, but the suspects made off with a watch, jewellery, and Chambliss’ purse. Police officers responded to the incident and applied a tourniquet to Delacruz’s wounds to prevent any more loss of blood. “If they didn’t do that, I wouldn’t have made it,” the victim asserted. He may not be able to walk for six months, according to doctors. Chambliss was not injured, but described the incident as “scary.”
Jenkins is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, while Wright has been charged with principal to attempted murder.
