If you want to see in the New Year among the bright lights of Las Vegas, you better have an abundance of cash stowed away. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas site has an average room rate of $100,049.99 per night for New Years Eve.
X user Eddie-Capital shared the staggering price on X, to which Vital Vegas responded in a mocking tone: “Book early and save!”
To put that price into perspective, the average room rate one day prior on December 30, 2024 is just $450. That means the Cosmo has increased its average room rate by 22122% for that night. Rooms of multiple sizes are set at this price, ranging from a max four guests terraced studio with two queen beds to a terrace one bedroom suite with max two guests.
it could be an issue with the Cosmo website
Questions remain as to whether the site has an error. For the same dates, other hotel room booking sites are offering Cosmopolitan rooms for hundreds of dollars, rather than thousands, implying that it could be an issue with the Cosmo website.
Other hotels in Las Vegas are also offering much cheaper rates. For comparison, the Luxor Hotel is advertising one bedroom suites on New Years Eve for an average of $558 per night, with max three guests. The Venetian is offering luxury suites with two queen beds and max four guests for $1,000 per night.
According to a study by Forbes Advisor this year, Las Vegas prices are increasing more than any other US travel destination. Over the past five years, daily hotel rates rose by 47%, the average now stands at around $252 per night.
