The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has had to take legal action against Playgon Interactive, Inc and its affiliate, Bitrate Productions. The gaming supplier supposedly used live dealers to deal casino games without a license in Nevada.

According to a press release from the NGCB, the regulator issued a cease and desist demanding that Bitrate stop production of live dealer content from its Las Vegas studio. Company dealers supposedly dealt games of baccarat and roulette, broadcasting the content to online casinos around the world.

The NGCB highlighted that Playgon’s legal counsel previously argued on two separate occasions in 2016 that a license was not required, insisting that the content would be used for entertainment purposes only. It has come to the regulator’s attention that this is not the case – “Bitrate’s activities went beyond social gaming,” the NGCB concluded.

As per the cease and desist, issued on July 18, Playgon and Bitrate must cease unlicensed activity by 5pm on July 26, or “face potentially criminal or civil actions.”

“The NGCB will take all necessary actions to enforce Nevada’s gaming laws and regulations,” stated NGCB Chairman Kirk Hendrick.
