Isaiah Rodgers is once again eligible to play in the NFL after serving a season-long suspension for betting offenses. The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback got the all-clear to take part in his team’s activities on Tuesday. The 26-year-old posted a short video on X (formerly Twitter) to announce his return:
Rodgers was playing for the Indianapolis Colts when he received his suspension in June 2023 alongside two of his teammates. This led to the Colts releasing him and the Eagles picked him up a couple of months later after acknowledging that Rodgers apologized for his mistakes.
claimed that his friends and relatives in Florida often used his account to place wagers
Investigators discovered that over 100 bets were made from an online sportsbook account linked to the cornerback, including some wagers on games involving his own team. He subsequently claimed that his friends and relatives in Florida often used his account to place wagers. Most of the wagers were in the $25 and $50 range, with the largest wager being $1,000 on a Colts running back rushing for more than a certain number of yards in a game.
Five other NFL players also got the green light last week after serving bans for breaching the league’s gambling policy, none of them currently having a team.
