A California man is mulling legal action against The Venetian Resort Las Vegas after a scorpion allegedly stung him on the genitals during a stay.
The Venetian comped Farchi’s room
Michael Farchi of Agoura Hills claims a painful sting woke him up in his suite on December 26, 2023. According to Las Vegas Locally, which took to X to share the news on Monday, The Venetian comped Farchi’s room.
Farchi, however, believes the gesture by the Apollo Global Management-owned resort is not enough. He subsequently consulted attorney Brian Virag and told KLAS-TV/Las Vegas that he is “considering legal action.”
Pest in his pants
The Californian’s Boxing Day ordeal allegedly happened at 8am.
“I just felt like somebody stabbing me in my private area,” Farchi told KLAS, adding:
It felt like a sharp glass or a knife.”
On further examination, Farchi discovered a scorpion in his smalls. “Everybody was in shock, nobody believed,” Farchi stated. “Even I couldn’t believe it.”
Farchi then submitted a private report to The Venetian detailing the incident, including a hospital report officially diagnosing him with a scorpion sting in the testicles.
In response to a question on the Venetian report asking what injuries he sustained, the stung man stated “a lot of pain.”
According to media reports, Farchi didn’t think to question how the predatory insect got into his suite. “It was just under my cover,” he stated.
Suit or settlement?
While Farchi and Virag stated they are considering a lawsuit against The Venetian, going public with the ordeal can be construed as a way to seek a settlement.
KLAS, however, cited a representative from The Venetian, who stated the resort “has protocols for all incidents and we can confirm they were followed in this incident.”
