Rob Gronkowski, considered by many as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, let down FanDuel customers last year by missing a field goal during Super Bowl LVII. It would have netted gamblers $10m in free bets, but the NFL legend will get another chance at glory this year.
FanDuel has announced its ‘Kick of Destiny 2’ campaign for Super Bowl LVIII. Gronk will attempt another field goal – this time to be streamed at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas during the Super Bowl final in February.
This time around, fans will get the option to choose if Gronkowski will ‘Make’ or ‘Miss’ the kick. If they get it right, they will be eligible to share in a pot of $10m in bonus bets to use with the sportsbook. Gronk will make the kick in front of a live audience this time around.
I’m going to show America I can make that kick”
After missing last year’s kick, Gronkowski says he is more determined than ever to make it in 2024. “I’m going to show America I can make that kick, even with all the pressure of doing it live in front of the entire country,” he asserted.
American actors Carl Weathers and John Cena will also take part in the campaign, the former as Gronkowski’s coach and the latter as his biggest critic. “I rarely get to play the villain so I’m ready to fully embrace this role,” said WWE star Cena.
