The latest US casino to fall victim to hackers is the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines.
The Illinois property revealed on Thursday that a data breach has led to exposed personal information of patrons, online sportsbook users, and employees. This includes their full names, contact details, and dates of birth. Hackers may have also gained access to a certain amount of tax identification numbers, passport details, and Social Security information.
the casino confirmed the infiltration occurred in August
Despite only learning about the breach this month, the casino confirmed the infiltration occurred in August. It has not found any sign as of yet that the infiltrators got their hands on credit card details or passwords. There is also no evidence of identity theft or fraud, with the breach not extending to other Rivers casinos or the BetRivers online gambling platform.
The Rush Street Gaming-operated Rivers Casino is in the process of communicating with impacted individuals about the issue. It will help those affected safeguard their personal information and is now working with a cybersecurity company to handle the issue, including providing people with a free year of credit card fraud alerts.
Only recently, MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment both suffered security breaches in Las Vegas.
