MGM Resorts International is rewarding its loyalty club members following the recent cyberattack on its properties in Las Vegas. The casino firm singled out all MGM Rewards members who booked or stayed with the casino company during September, sending them messages with offers of compensation.
could include up to four nights of complimentary hotel stays
The message mentions how the loyalty of members “has not gone unnoticed” and that users will potentially get updates to their account balance over the next few weeks. This could include up to four nights of complimentary hotel stays depending on the account status. The company said that it is eager to show its appreciation to the people who stood by it during the troublesome period.
MGM was hit with a cyberattack in September that caused massive disruption to its computer systems and Las Vegas properties. The guest experience was significantly impacted for some time due to several issues, such as long lines for manually checking into hotels, slot machines malfunctioning, and unavailable non-cash payments.
The company eventually resolved the matter without resorting to paying a ransom to the attackers. Cyber insurance should cover the estimated $100m loss resulting from the infiltration. It is still unclear how much customer data was compromised during the attack.
