On the eve of Detroit’s 322nd birthday, one of the Michigan city’s casinos endured yet another dose of crime.
On Monday morning, an unnamed suspect pounced on a gambler in the MotorCity Casino car park, stealing thousands of dollars in cash. The suspect was, however, arrested, and Detroit police stated it will release additional details in time.
fully cooperating with local law enforcement agencies”
According to FOX 2, MotorCity Casino responded to a request for information about the crime with a statement, saying it was “fully cooperating with local law enforcement agencies” in the ongoing investigation. The casino urged members of the public to come forward with information.
While the crime no doubt took the gloss off MotorCity Casino’s Detroit birthday celebrations, it was a reminder of the casino’s history as a crime scene. This includes a murder that was one of the five most tragic casino crimes of 2021, and the 2022 revelation that a Detroit drug ring called “Team Cookies” was laundering money at the casino.
