Poker pro Daniel Weinman has just increased his total career live earnings from $3.7m to a staggering $15.9m. The Atlanta native won the top prize in this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas, bagging himself a $12.1m payday from the record $93.4m prize pool.
The $12.1m represents the largest prize in WSOP history, topping the $12m earned by 2006 champion Jamie Gold. The 2023 $10,000 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em Main Event’s entry pool far surpassed the previous record of 8,773 set in 2006 too, reaching 10,043 players.
Predictably, it’s also Weinman’s largest win by a long way, his previous best being an $892,433 win in the 2017 World Poker Tour Main Event.

Weinman has now played in the WSOP Main Event for 16 years. Speaking with reporters after the historic win, he said: “I was honestly on the fence about even coming back and playing this tournament. To win this Main Event, it doesn’t feel real. I mean [there’s] so much luck in a poker tournament. I thought I played very well.”
The other top Main Event prizes were claimed by Steven Jones, who finished second for $6.5m, and Adam Walton, who bagged $4m for finishing third.
