Online casinos in New Jersey are looking to get a decade-long extension to the state’s online gambling framework, but it looks like they might only get a two-year renewal. These platforms have been massively lucrative for operators and the state itself since they first went live.

No other state has a better performing iGaming sector than the Garden State.

The online gambling scene helped many land-based casinos in Atlantic City get through the pandemic. No other state has a better performing iGaming sector than the Garden State.

Total gross gaming revenue in 2022 for iGaming in New Jersey was $1.66bn. Only Delaware, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Michigan, and West Virginia also have legal online casino gambling.

Lawmakers in an Assembly committee voted on Tuesday regarding the framework renewal. They altered the period to two years as they don’t want operators to be tempted to slack off and want to ensure that they are always acting in an above-board manner. New Jersey’s original iGaming law was passed in 2013.
