While the brand Twitter will remain, employees working for it might soon be wearing work uniforms with an X Corp logo on it. News emerged Wednesday of a legal filing in Florida that stated: “Twitter Inc. has merged into X Corp. and no longer exists.”
Entrepreneur and Elon Musk cheerleader Mario Nawfal shared the filing made with the US District Court Southern District of Florida Miami Division via Twitter, prefacing it with “Twitter is Dead”:
According to the filing, X Corp is incorporated in Nevada and its principal place of business is San Francisco.
While Twitter’s corporate name change will have little effect on the majority of its social media users, Nawfal posed a teasing question when he asked if Twitter becoming X Corp was “the start of the everything app?”
buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app”
Owner Musk, who in a company-wide email recently announced that Twitter employees will receive stock in X Corp, has said: “buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app.”
Like China’s WeChat, Musk sees X as a multi-feature app that combines payment features with traditional messaging and video.
