Police have charged a table game dealer at a Toronto casino for allegedly colluding with patrons to cheat, along with the four people he worked with.

The arrests come at the end of an investigation launched by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario last October. They started the probe after receiving a tip-off about possible collusion at Casino Woodbine in Etobicoke.

fraud of more than CA$5,000 (US$3,711)

Arthur Segovia, the dealer in question, is 52 years old. Police charged him with cheating at play, criminal breach of trust, fraud of more than CA$5,000 (US$3,711), and theft of CA$5,000+. The four patrons, who are between 25 and 33 years old, were all charged with fraud and theft, as well as cheating at play.

Each person was released from custody and will have future court appearances. The authorities are continuing with their investigation.

It is certainly not unheard of for casino dealers to be found cheating. Last week, it was revealed that a shuffler for a live dealer online blackjack game in Connecticut had manipulated cards during games. He placed bets on the action through three DraftKings accounts and won at least US$47,000 doing so.
