Brandon Aiyuk casts his vote
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk endorsed the Kansas City Chiefs as soon-to-be Super Bowl champions over the weekend.
take everything I own, get it in cash, and put my money on the Kansas City Chiefs”
“If I were going to bet on this game, I would take everything I own, get it in cash, and put my money on the Kansas City Chiefs,” Aiyuk said.
Aiyuk and the Niners were eliminated by the Chiefs’ upcoming opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles, in the NFC Championship Game 31-7. However, that game has left a sour taste in the mouth of San Francisco’s players, who believe that they would have won had they had even one healthy quarterback on their roster.
All talk?
The 49ers have no direct rivalry with the Eagles despite Aiyuk’s fiery comment. The third-year pro also made sure there were no misrepresentations of his feelings while speaking with TheSFNiners.
They got extremely lucky.”
“[The Eagles] talk about [having] a good defense—I’m not sure,” said Aiyuk. “I think this Kansas City pass game will expose what we thought we were going to expose before some unfortunate circumstances. They got extremely lucky.”
The Eagles finished the regular season first in pass defense and 16th against the run. Their final task will be taking down presumptive MVP, Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs’ top-ranked passing offense in Super Bowl LVII.
Philly last won a Super Bowl in 2018 when they defeated the New England Patriots 41-33. The Chiefs won two years later, knocking off the 49ers 31-20.
