Extending a relationship

Sportradar has signed a deal with FanDuel that will see it serve as the operator’s NBA sports betting data provider through the 2030-31 season.

supplying betting services on its sportsbook, utilizing analytics, and providing live data

Sportradar will assist FanDuel in supplying betting services on its sportsbook, utilizing analytics, and providing live data. The deal supplements a previous agreement that tied the two companies together in August 2021.

FanDuel is already the most successful online sportsbook in the US, but it has been investing heavily in different areas of its operation, including television shows, brand partners, and now, a data provider.

Sportradar and FanDuel expand NBA betting

Both Sportradar and FanDuel posted press releases Wednesday morning after striking an agreement.

Per both companies, increasing the number of betting opportunities by utilizing live data was central to the partnership.

“Sportradar and FanDuel will collaborate to enhance the sports betting experience through innovative products and offerings including, for the first time, the use of certain player tracking data to create props and support the growth of same game parlays,” said the release. ”Prop and parlay style wagering, which continue to increase in popularity, enable customers to bet in new and more creative ways.”

Sportradar is already serving as the NBA’s official data provider after signing an agreement in November 2021.

As per the terms of the deal, FanDuel will also be able to access Sportradar’s full utility of tools, including live trackers, betting add-ons, and a live channel trading solution.

“We are thrilled to further expand our relationship with FanDuel in a manner that will evolve and grow the skyrocketing market for sports betting in the US while continuing to monetize our long-term partnership with the NBA,” said Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl. “This deal demonstrates the value of our strategy in delivering products and services on top of data rights.”

Company positions

Data analytics are becoming increasingly important to sports betting companies, both for their ability to supply up-to-the-minute information to customers and to help sportsbooks create wider and more accurate betting lines.

Sportradar has a rich history in data and analytics, but despite that, the company was recently engaged in a power struggle with two other technology-focused sports companies.

The feud revolved around identifying which company between Sportradar, Genius Sports, and Football DataCo had the rights to different data and access to English Premier League, English Football League, and Scottish Professional Football League games. The dispute was ultimately settled two weeks ago after multiple lawsuits.

With that officially behind Sportradar, FanDuel is excited to develop its offerings through the new partnership.

substantial reinvestment in product innovation and enhancements”

“FanDuel’s top priority is to provide a superior product experience to our customers,” said FanDuel President Christian Genetski. “As we forged this deal, it was critically important that our commitment to NBA basketball and its official data be tied to substantial reinvestment in product innovation and enhancements that will ensure FanDuel retains a market-leading NBA offering.”

FanDuel turned $1.9bn in revenue in 2021, well ahead of second-place DraftKings ($1.3bn). The recent return of the NBA calendar will help them continue their dominance in the betting market.
