Two announcements in a day

Wynn Resorts has scored a Volunteer State double, winning conditional approval for online sports betting in Tennessee and signing a multi-year marketing deal with the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s Memphis Grizzlies. The operator issued separate announcements on its latest two achievements on February 9.

The sports betting arm of Nevada-based luxury hospitality giant Wynn received conditional approval from the Sports Wagering Committee of the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation’s Board of Directors to operate its online sports betting statewide.

The company’s senior product manager, Gavin Deadman, announced the New Jersey-based outfit’s other Tennessee coup with the Grizzlies on Twitter yesterday:

Tuesday’s business in Tennessee gives WynnBET market access to its ninth US state. Already live in Colorado, New Jersey, and Michigan, WynnBET has Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Nevada, Ohio, and now Tennessee in its to-launch locker, subject to pending completion of standard statutory and regulatory requirements.

WynnBET to give Grizzlies digital bite

According to an official news release, WynnBET’s digitally focused sports marketing link-up with the Memphis-based NBA franchise will promote “high-impact experiences emblematic of the energy and excitement of both brands.”

WynnBET’s platform will integrate with the Grizzlies’ “most popular digital and broadcast programs”, including Grind City Media. WynnBET will also join forces with the Grizzlies on cross-promotional campaigns designed to boost the franchise’s digital footprint across social media, web, and mobile apps.

Grind City Media is a Memphis-based on-demand media platform and digital content studio that specializes in serving Grizzlies fans, with crossover into college football gridiron and sports-oriented lifestyle.

Part of the deal includes a WynnBET-branded lounge inside the Grizzlies FedExForum arena in downtown Memphis, where fans will experience “unique live experiences.”

Operator’s cross-country drive

WynnBET’s Tennessee market penetration continues the casino and sports wagering brand’s impressive cross-country drive. On January 15, WynnBET planted a sports betting flag in its seventh US state, adding Iowa to its mobile betting roster through a partnership with Elite Casino Resorts. The Jersey City-based sports wagering entity followed this up less than a week later, with the addition of Ohio to its US-wide footprint.

The Grizzlies partnership, meanwhile, follows other robust tie-ups with sports franchises. In October 2020, WynnBET became an authorized gaming operator of NASCAR and an official online sportsbook for Martinsville Speedway and Richmond Raceway, subject to pending Virginia licensing approval.
