Remote registration of online sports betting accounts is now an option in Iowa. With in-person sign-up no longer a requirement, operators have been busy launching mobile and online options. BetMGM also launched its app, allowing customers to access benefits connected to MGM Resorts casinos across the United States.
William Hill US launched earlier, providing an enhanced online experience for bettors starting January 1, the first day that remote registration could begin for new account sign-ups.

BetMGM also launched this week, providing customers with an online app for sports betting. The company connected the app to the MGM Resorts brand’s M life Rewards program so that players can earn rewards for MGM-operated casinos in the United States.
The app?launch was in partnership?with the Diamond Jo Casino, a property located in Dubuque. The sports betting experience is streamlined with the app, making it easy for players to make pre-game, futures, parlays, and live in-play wagers.
BetMGM took to Twitter to announce the start of services:
The launch marks the 8th state in which BetMGM offers mobile sports betting services. The brand is also live in New Jersey, Nevada, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Tennessee, and Indiana.
William Hill US launches first
The first service provider in Iowa to announce online registrations after remote registration began was William Hill US. It started on January 1, offering an enhanced mobile app and companion website powered by the operator’s proprietary platform, with a broad selection of markets and betting types.
William Hill already offers retail sports betting at six casinos in Iowa and was the first to launch an app in the state, back in August 2019.
With the in-person online account registration mandate ending as 2021 began, the state expects to see player accounts soar as individuals start to sign up for sports betting over the internet rather than having to travel to a casino.
