DraftKings Chicago Cubs deal
The new multi-year deal between the Cubs and DraftKings includes a plan to create a one-of-a-kind sportsbook at iconic Wrigley Field. Players located in the Wrigleyville area will have online access, able to place sports bets while in the area outside the stadium.
The sportsbook at Wrigley will include a full entertainment experience for guests. Sports betting is legal in the state of Illinois, but to offer services, the city of Chicago must approve DraftKings’ new plan.
Jordan enters the picture
DraftKings had another announcement this week involving Chicago sports icons, revealing that it is now working with famed former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan. DraftKings has added Jordan to its board as a special advisor. He will receive an undisclosed equity stake for his new role within the company.
Jordan will offer strategic and creative input to members of the board in relation to strategy, product development, and a host of other categories. The share price of DraftKings rose around 8% after the announcement was made.
