Atari Crypto Token to Integrate With World’s First MMO Slot

An exciting collaboration

Atari has partnered with Native Gaming and Black Dog Venture Partners to integrate Atari’s crypto token with Native Gaming’s soon-to-be-launched Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) slot game, the first of its kind. The Atari Token will also be integrated with Native Gaming’s existing library of games. 

This partnership was announced through an Atari press release on June 3. The Atari Token is set to launch by September 2020 through Atari Chain, a subsidiary co-owned by the ICICB Group.

ICICB is working on a number of different projects involving the use of cryptocurrencies in various forms of entertainment. 

Native’s gambling innovation

Native Gaming is planning to launch a new type of game on its proprietary Social MMO Sweepstakes Casino that will replace the standard casino-style slot mechanism.

Instead of using the traditional slot spin play mechanic, the Native MMO Slot Game will use a monster-catching system similar to that of popular video games like Pokémon. Once caught, these monsters can battle against those of other players, potentially earning money for the user. There is no release date yet for this project.

Reaction to the partnership

Of the partnership, Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said: “Native is building a whole new genre in online gambling and we are thrilled to partner with them on this new casino experience.”

The CEO of Native Gaming, Justin McCool, also spoke of the company’s delight at securing a partnership with Atari. He said that Atari is an ideal partner to help Native launch its new MMO casino slot game and that the relationship will help bridge the divide between gambling, gamers, and the cryptocurrency world.

Old school meets new school

Native Gaming’s existing gambling operation is an “ambitious new online casino” that gives players the ability to act as the house by having a stake in the casino’s bankroll. Stakeholders can earn a share of the gross gaming revenue generated from the site’s games.

There are more than 5,000 games on the platform from leading game developers such as Microgaming, NetEnt, and Evolution Gaming. Native will soon offer the Atari Token as a payment method.

Atari is an iconic interactive entertainment firm, best known for popularizing the home video game console in the late 1970s. It is the owner or manager of over 200 franchises and games, including Missile Command and Asteroids.

Black Dog Gaming is the gaming and esports division of Black Dog Ventures, a “business accelerator” that provides funding and business development help to “disruptive” companies.
