won the lucrative contract after completing a competitive procurement process
The Las Vegas-based gambling supplier won the lucrative contract after completing a competitive procurement process. Lotto Thüringen and Scientific Games have worked together for more than two decades. The partnership serves all 16 state lotteries located in Germany.
Services continue in a growing market
According to Jochen Staschewski, chief executive of Lotto Thüringen, the market is one of only a few that continues to experience growth in Germany.
Instant products are propelling the development of the lottery on a continual basis. Therefore, the lottery plans to increase its portfolio of instant games available via retail outlets. The provider plans to place emphasis on digital instant games that can be played via mobile.
John Schulz, senior vice president of instant products Scientific Games, pointed out that the company will provide Lotto Thüringen with instant games that will add value to the lottery’s offering. These games have been proven to increase revenue for customers around the globe.
Schulz said the potential of instant games, sold both at retail and online/mobile, is not fully realized in Europe. He went on to say that
they are the biggest and most successful lottery product category in the US and still growing.”
Slashing Q2 spending
The new deal with Lotto Thüringen comes just one month after Scientific Games announced they are cutting second-quarter spending amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Executive leaders have halved their pay and CEO Barry Cottle is going without pay.
