Authorized Sports Betting Operator
DraftKings has signed a multi-year partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) which sees it become an Authorized Sports Betting Operator for the professional sports league.
Starting with the current NBA season, DraftKings will use official betting data from the NBA along with league marks across the US via its mobile platform and sportsbooks.
NBA betting
DraftKings and the NBA will work together to create practices that will protect the integrity of the basketball games. The partnership will allow DraftKings to refine its NBA wagering category within its sports betting offering. Currently, basketball ranks as one of the most popular sports among the brand’s customers.
Working together
Commenting on the new partnership, DraftKings chief business officer Ezra Kucharz said the NBA league’s advocacy of legal sports betting shows its “consistent foresight to innovate” to help improve the fan experience. He added:
We look forward to the opportunities that being an Authorized Gaming Operator of the NBA will unlock for customers.”
Senior vice president and head of Fantasy & Gaming for the NBA, Scott Kaufman-Ross, said the NBA is excited to team up with DraftKings. According to Ross, the partnership will provide basketball fans with “an authentic and enhanced gaming experience” while helping the league to further protect the integrity of the games.
Additional NBA deals
The deal with DraftKings is one of several that took place in the past month. VSO News reported that the league also signed Tabcorp as their official sports betting partner in Australia. The multi-year agreement will allow Tabcorp to use the NBA logo in its advertising campaigns as well as across its social media channels.
Sky Channel, Tabcorp’s television offering, will be able to offer NBA TV. Over 4,400 of the company’s sites in Australia will have access to the network.
The NBA also signed a deal with William Hill, a top sportsbook operator in the US and abroad, naming the company an official betting partner. As well as having access to official betting data from the league, William Hill will also be able to use the NBA logo in its advertising and across its social media, mobile, and desktop platforms.
William Hill will also be providing the professional sports league with its integrity monitoring systems to try and prevent suspicious betting or incidents of match-fixing.
