Multiyear deal signed

Swish Analytics has become the third authorized sports betting data distributor for Major League Baseball (MLB).

This multiyear partnership allows the California-based technology company to supply MLB’s official real-time betting data feed to licensed sports betting operators across the United States. Sportradar AG and the Perform Group are the two other authorized distributors.

Swish Analytics already operates in the sports betting space as an oddsmaker and for the provision of gaming data services.

Bobby Skoff, who co-founded Swish Analytics in 2014, spoke about how this data distribution deal is part of their overall expansion plans in the US sports betting space. The company aims to ensure that their

full suite of pre-match, in-play and at-bat betting products defines the next generation of engagement for MLB fans.”

Official service provider

Another part of this partnership agreement sees Swish Analytics become an official service provider to the league.

This partnership will see the two groups work together in a bid to increase fan engagement across MLB’s digital platforms. They will also be working together to release interactive MLB applications using the real-time prediction platform developed by Swish Analytics.

Kenny Gersh, MLB executive vice president for gaming and new ventures, has spoken about this partnership. He said: “Including Swish as a distributor of our rich, reliable and fast data, in addition to their best-in-class odds making and gaming-data services, will drive competition and new product innovations across the sports betting landscape.”

MLB’s sports betting focus

MLB has been making numerous moves to try and cash in on the nascent sports betting market. This is despite the fact they were initially working with the other major sports leagues to prevent the ending of the federal ban on sports betting.

Initially, MLB and NBA were seeking the introduction of integrity fees as part of sports betting legislation. This would result in a slice of every sports bet going towards the respective league. However, no state to date has included such a provision in final legislation, largely because it would significantly undercut the already tight margins for sportsbooks.

Instead, MLB began to focus more on data distribution deals such as this one with Swish Analytics. They can provide valuable real-time data to sports betting operators. This allows the operators to provide the best and latest stats and markets for live betting during games.

The league is also partnering with DraftKings and MGM Resorts International as official gaming partners.

MLB games have been a popular choice for sports bettors to date. It is the second most popular sport to bet on through the DraftKings platform. This is largely because of the vast number of games that take place every season.
